Tony’s tribulations.
After nearly two years of pandemic, things are getting better. We are still not where we want to be, but things are definitely improving. As a club we recognise that we still can’t quite get everyone together yet, but hopefully that is not too far away.
While we are quite well place in Australia now, we understand that access to vaccines remains an issue in much of the developed world. Rotary International, through its experience with the polio vaccine, would seem well placed to assist developing nations. While we don’t yet know exactly what role Rotary will play, RI seems up for the task. I have included a message from RI President Shekhar Mehta and The Rotary Foundation Chair John Germ for your interest.
Locally the board continues to progress multiple projects for the benefit of our community. There is none more important for us at the moment than supporting Gary, Rob, Bob, James and the remainder of the Bool Music and Wine Festival committee. Please be prepared to volunteer and help them set up on the 15th of Jan. and assist on the 16th. If you have any trestle tables or 3x3 gazebos to loan for the day that would also be greatly appreciated.
Christmas in nearly on us and we have just one more Wednesday meeting before we break for Christmas. I want to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas-New Year.
Our first Wednesday back will be on January the 5th. The Bowls Club can’t host us because they have a major tournament on. We will meet at 30A Riverview Tce for some Subway in the garden on the 5th and return to the Bowls Club on the 12th of January.

Message from RI President and Rotary Foundation Chair.
Minutes.
Attendance: Nooka penciled 24 members, one visiting Rotarian and one guest into the book. Our visiting Rotarian was Rob Harris. Amrika joined us again as a guest.
Meal: Fish and chips with a salad. Perfect.
Brendan stepped in again as a Sarg this week and elicited the following reports;
· Hayesey thanked those members who assisted with the Neil Porter Legacy project.
· Peter also reminded members to join the Bowls Club as a social member. Ten dollars membership will get you much more than ten dollars in value.
· Matt thanked those members who assisted with the Tooram cemetery working bee.
· Matt also asked members to assist Sinclair and Wilson deliver presents on Friday, and members readily volunteered to help.
· Boré informed us that the club will purchase a Shelter Box to assist that project given recent events that would have placed a demand on this resource.
· Gary asked members to assist with the Bool Music and Wine Festival in three ways; Firstly we need trestle tables if anyone has any to lend us. Secondly we need 3x3 (or larger gazebos). Finally, we need volunteers to assist on January 15th (set up), January 16th (the event) and January 17th (tidy up). Please indicate to Gary how you can help.
Trev and Gracey gave us an entertaining account of their recent trip with Bob McMillan and several other friends. The guys have one trip a year where they visit one pub towns, stay at the pub, play music at the pub and leave a bit of money on the way through. Trev noted that many pubs offer excellent accommodation with a restaurant and good company on site and are an excellent alternative to motels. Trev is the lead singer in charge of the whole operation. Gracey is on percussion and navigation. He is quite good at percussion. Bob is the band manager and so gets a cut of the non-existent profits. The only fly in the ointment was that many of these small country pubs only open at 4.00 or 5.00 in the afternoon which, if Gracey’s navigating was any better, would have been a problem. We thank Trev and Gracey for their entertaining talk.
We clean forgot to do a barrel draw so everyone left empty handed. We probably would have left empty handed anyway because someone has stollen our wine. We don’t know who it was. It is a shame, because Gary had chosen a terrific wine that went well with beef, lamb and hand tattoos.

Boré’s view.
Few people are stronger advocates for road safety than Boré. He knows that there are some really bad drivers out there on our roads. Have a great Christmas and stay safe.

Ten Years Ago.
Ten years ago, Maxi was our inbound exchange student from Germany. I had always thought that when JFK said ‘Ich bin ein Berliner’ that he was saying he was an upmarket Commodore. However, Maxi informed us that in Germany a Berliner is a type of donut. So all along JFK was saying ‘I am a donut.’ I suppose JFK ended up like a donut; he certainly had a hole in the middle of him.
