Attendance: We had another classic Nooka numbers report where he declared it was impossible to know what was going on with members, guests, late attendee's, people eating and not eating etc! He then declared there were 21 members and 4 guests(although 1 guest was a visiting Rotarian)! This was actually spot on! Well done Nooka on your accurate reporting. We haven't had anything so accurate since Lennox Walker was a forecaster!
Nooka then went on to give the much anticipated footy tipping report. After a lengthy introduction Nooka commenced with 3rd place only to then change his mind and recommence the report starting at 5th place! The members were confused and the guests even more so.
The placings were as follows:(Remember Footy Tipping results are not an exact science!)
5th Hutto & Nooka at 133. (Surprising Nooka only came 5th!)
4th Paul Reily at 131 No prize for 4th!
3rd Compass at 136 $60 minus $10 for not being there to collect
2nd Ronnie at 138 $140 minus $10 for being a Geelong supporter and $10 for talking back to Nooka
1st Verto at 139 $240 minus $30 for assorted indiscretions, one being the winner of the Ace radio tipping competition, $10 for being an Essendon supporter and $10 for winning on his first time in the competition.
The tipping this year raised $240 for the club. Well done Nooka on another year of a seamless footy tipping competition!

This week Paul declared he was prepared this week as opposed to last week then went on to advise he had nothing to report the same as last week! Well Done Paul. You have this Pres thing down pat!
In other reports;
· Our Pres is going well and is recuperating up on the Murray River for a week.
· Hutto reported on the can recycling during the Hampden Football/Netball Grand Final The club made $184 for about 40 mins work.
· Hutto also advised that the Winx film night needs at least another 10 people to proceed. Tickets available $20 each. Contact Hutto if you would like tickets. Hutto is also looking for raffle prizes for the night.
The barrel draw went to Robbo this week.

Last Week's Meeting - a view from the cheap seats.
What a busy lunchtime we had last week after Bono's previous 3 week European slide presentation. I sat next to Hutto and we were able to relive old times in Penang (photo enclosed). Hutto also told me he was at the Moonee Valley races a couple of weeks ago when a guy came up to him and said, "Do you want the winner of the next race?" Hutto said, "No, I've only got a small backyard so I'd have nowhere to keep it".
Rowan sat opposite and was able to educate us about his ancestor, Tom Wills, who was a cricketer of note and is widely regarded as the founder of Australian Rules Football. Rowan also told us how Tom's father and 18 station hands were massacred in a different sort of Welcome to Country ceremony. There are certainly some members with interesting stories which we should hear more about.
I was pipped at the post in the footy tipping by The Voice. It's my own fault - I tipped against Geelong once for the year when they beat Freo in Perth. Nooka did his best to confuse everyone with the door report and relieve the placegetters of the footy tipping of some of their winnings. Situation normal! Then as if things weren't bad enough we found out there were two Pip Ritchies in the room.
We met the direct opposite to Nooka when Brooke McLeod (no relation) introduced us to two very smart kids who are off to the NYSF early next year. The busy hour was rounded off by one of our former exchange students from France expertly extracting money from us with a fine session. By this time I was exhausted and went home for a nap.
NYSF & Science & Engineering Challenge
Brooke McLeod from the Warrnambool Rotary club presented a summary of the Science & Engineering Challenge held at Deakin Uni recently and presented 2 of the candidates for the NYSF program.
The Science & Engineering Challenge had 136 students from 6 schools and 24 volunteers this year. 40% were female students. Kings College won the day and came 7th in the state final. The program has had more than 1000 students through it from 16 different schools. Each year the program costs $15,000 to run. Brooke has a vision for the program to be extended to primary schools in the future.
Brooke then introduced Calder Nicolson and Bella Clifford from Warrnambool College. Both Bella and Calder have an interest in science and and will be attending the NYSF which goes for 2 weeks and each candidate selects a stream of interest where they will learn more about the subject.
There are another 2 candidates from Warrnambool that were not able to attend todays meeting, Rachael Waterhouse and Bailey Else. They will come to a meeting in the future.
