Attendance: Nooka returned looking magnificent and very much on trend with a beard and moustache. He reported twenty-one members and two guests in attendance. Our two guests were Maria, Sue and Matt. It is great to have you back Nooka.
Meal: Pasta carbonara bake. 11/10 from Robbo. Only David's lawyer joke prevented it from getting a higher score.
David launched the meeting with an excellent lawyer joke before introducing President Brendan. Bono was looking very stylish in David Jellie-esque attire. Brendan reported;
- Lew is looking for volunteers to sell Legacy badges.
- Members need to pay their annual subscriptions now.
- Gerald is investigating a possible Bega Koroit factory tour with lunch at Mickey Bourke’s. Details to follow.
- On Wednesday September 10th the Bowlo’s kitchen will be closed for maintenance. We will need to find an alternative venue for lunch. Get the Central Court on the blower perhaps?

- Greg is looking for a volunteer to pick up Maria from school each Wednesday for three weeks while he is away on holidays. Talk to Greg if you can help.
- Jon advised that the four Warrnambool Rotary Clubs will hold a combined meeting on Wednesday 24th of September at the RSL starting at 6.00pm. The Glenelg Hopkins Catchment Management Authority will give us a presentation on their Rivers of Warrnambool project, which we are involved in. There will be no lunchtime meeting on that day, except for Boré.
- Gerald was having a posh booze up with members of the R.C. of Melbourne recently and they have suggested we become involved in the BioEYES scientific education project. The project involving Monash University is looking for remote schools to partner with to encourage student interest in science.
- David reported on Stephanie Summer’s recent return to Warrnambool.
Sue and Matt from Six Cs Emergency Management Specialists then spoke to us about their Community Cupboards project. Six Cs provides emergency management planning, response and recovery services and training to industry and governments.
The Community Cupboards project provides essentials for local farmers through six locations at fire stations in the Moyne Shire. Matt and Sue have been running this project personally and have clocked up 35,000 kms in the process of delivering 1,200 kgs of food and other donated household items. The project is selectively promoted directly to local farmers. Members of the public can also put things into the cupboards rather than take them away.
The Community Cupboards project has been supported by Western District Food Share, Share the Dignity, and the Rotary Clubs of Brighton, Warrnambool and Warrnambool Central.
Recently Sue and Matt have linked up with the CWAs in Hawkesdale, Hamilton and Colac to expand the project to Merino, Macarthur, Caramut, Nirranda and Simpson. They are looking for assistance on the 7th of November to transport goods to these five locations. Both volunteers and trailers will be needed.
An interesting aside is that Sue and Matt are looking for a suitable name for the project, so if you have any clever ideas let them know.
Matt and Sue are also setting up Fire House 6, a new hanger at the Warrnambool airport that will provide firefighting themed team building and leadership training for young people. It will be run as a not-for-profit enterprise. It sounds wonderful, but also like the sort of place you would take a young Brendan O’Neill for a fantasy-themed birthday party
