Attendance: This week we had Glenn give a very concise report, 26 members, 4 guests! With this record , Glenn may be putting his hand up for the Annual Meeting. There wasnt even time for a picture the report was done so quickly!
Meal: Roast Beef, where was the Bullant??
This week Dillo filled in for Jon who was absent. Was Jon partaking of some Christmas festivities?
Without wasting any time Dillo introduced our Pres. Pres advised of a BBQ being held at the Ozone bar over summer and Central are the recipients of the proceeds when we man the BBQ.
Pres also welcomed Rob back and asked members to respond in Stack App for the Christmas party. Sinclair & Wilson are running the Christmas collection again and we will be looking for volunteers on Dec 18 to distribute the gifts.
Matt then sat down to the howls of members reminding him he forgot to ask if there were any visiting Rotarians or members with guests! Only the week before, Matt chipped Dillo when he prompted him to ask for guests!
Matt then stood up and asked for any visiting Rotarians. Ironically this was the first time we had a visiting Rotarian this year! DG Lesley Sheddon from Torquay introduced herself. Matt then went on to aske for members with guests and Lea a past exchange student, Lexi our current outbound exchange student and Michelle Lexi's mother were all introduced. Most other weeks you would have got away with the blunder Matt!
Our President used his address to promote local businesses he recommends.
In reports;
· Rob Harris reported that he has had a condition CMML (chronic myelomonocytic leukaemia) for many years and it has recently flared up causing many weeks in hospital in Geelong and Camperdown. Rob is not a fan of having dinner a 4:45 pm in hospital! CMML occurs in 2 in every 100,000 people in Australia. It usually affects males. Rob is under the care of several specialists and we wish you all the best for your treatment Rob.
One of the treatments for CMML is transfusions so if you are a blood donor please ensure you keep donating or if you are not a blood donor think about starting.
· Hutto advised the recent container collection at the Jericho Cup yielded approximately 6000 containers. This was enough to put Central Rotary club back on top of the leader board for Tomra!
· Gerald advised that the book voucher prizes for the local primary schools is on again this year.
· Greg advised that our inbound student from Brazil, Maria will be in Australia in late January.
