Minutes.

Attendance: After several weeks of disquietingly accurate numbers from Garry, a professional accountant in the form of Lindsay stepped up this week and suggested ‘about twenty-one’ members were in attendance.  We had a visiting Rotarian in the form of Tim McLeod present.  Gracey helpfully suggested to Tim that he ‘get a life’ rather than waste time attending meetings of our club.  Our guest was Millie Barling.

Meal:  Curried chicken on a bed of mashed potatoes.  Now, a curry you would expect with rice.  Unless it is curries sausages, which you do expect with mashed spud.  Curried chicken with mashed spud?  It was delicious, and also just ever so slightly a bit Jason from Central Court.  In other words, perfect.

Sgt Bob introduced our President-elect and the meeting was under way.  In reports;

·       Garry confirmed that the Bool Food and Wine festival will be held on the 26^th of February 2023 at the Warrnambool Racecourse.  More details to follow.

·       Greg thanked those members from our club who volunteered to assist the Science and Engineering Challenge. 

·       Matt reminded members of the plan to help clean up the RSL this Friday at 2.30.

·       Matt also spoke about our plan to assist the new Loved and Shared charity project.  More details to follow.

·       Bob reported that in the footy tipping ‘Robbo fell in a heap this week but he is still leading Nooka by one’.  Interesting.

·       Boré announced our plan to join the other Rotary clubs watching the movie ‘Trip to Paradise’ to raise money for End Polio.  The proposed date is the 14^th of September.

·       Bob reminded members that we cannot meet at the Bowls club on the 24^th of August because they have a tournament on.  He has organised for us to meet at the RSL on that day.

·       Bob also announced that he looks likely to be able to fully fund the proposed $12,000 Myeloma nursing scholarship from local philanthropic trusts.  Great news.  Well done Bob!

·       Hutto informed members that the Thoroughbred Club will hold another luncheon in May as a Myeloma fundraiser.

·       Lew spoke about his visit to Robbo and Chris in Queensland.  We continue to think of them both and the challenges they face.

·       Bob spoke about the tandem bike project.  It does look like we will also be able to raise the funds for this project. 

·       Your correspondent confirmed the Tooram Memorial Park project is going ahead on Sunday 21^st August at 10.00am.

Millie Barling spoke about her interest in science and mathematics.  Millie is our candidate for the National Youth Science Forum in January 2023.  Millie is in year 11 and has played in the districts under 17 representative soccer team.  Her interest is paediatrics or oncology.  Bob asked her to calculate the equation ‘3-2=’ and then disputed her answer of one.  Millie has no future in accounting but clearly a big future in what ever field of science she chooses.  She is an excellent candidate for the NYSF.

Bob conducted and excellent fines session based on the content of this fine and prestigious publication and once again confirmed that it has a very boutique readership base.  The barrel was drawn and our acting President took home the wine that he had in fact donated in the first place.  Well done Garry.
