We are back meeting for lunch at the Central Court again this week! 12.45 for 1.00.
Remember, the venue limit is 30 people. You must r.s.v.p. to Brendan. Please do not turn up without responding to Brendan first as you may not be able to attend the meeting.

Friday night at the tennis club.
Robbo and Bob have very kindly organised for us to meet on Friday night (19th Nov) at the tennis club.
6.00 for 6.30, the bar will be open (so not BYO), there will be shazlics and some salads organised, but it would be great if you could bring a desert.
People can have a hit of tennis if they feel like it. You don’t need to be wearing tennis gear, but you will need runners for the grass courts and a racquet if you have one.

Greetings fellow Rotarians.
We are meeting again this Wednesday for lunch at the Central Court. I hope to see you there. Please rsvp to Brendan.
On Friday we will meet at the Tennis Club. I thank Bob and Robbo for organising this. Robbo advised that members can ‘play fully clothed’ and he will organise some ‘tasty shes licks and nice salads’. It sounded like an interesting evening, then Robbo pointed out that auto spell correct had intervened and he was actually organising some tasty shasliks. See above for details.
Bob McMillan and I sat down and had a chat to Paul, the new manager at the Central Court. From these discussions we are proposing four options;
1. Continuing to meet at the Central Court, with them providing the meal as they currently do. The meal would cost $20 each and we would need to ensure we paid for at least 25 meals each week. At this price point, the quality of the meals would not improve. We would probably want to charge members about $22 per week.
2. Continuing to meet at the Central Court but we supply the food. The plan would be to ask three or four venues (Mandala, Bohemia, Country Life for example) if they can supply us with the necessary take away meals that we would eat at the Central Court. We would still be able to get drinks from the Central Court bar, but it may only be open for 15 minutes at the start of the meeting. We may be able to buy a decent lunch for $18 and keep the weekly cost to members to $20, but the meal would be in take-away format.
3. Find another venue in the CBD. We need to investigate our options here.
4. Find a venue outside the CBD such as the Carmichael room at City Memorial Bowls Club.
Please give Bob and myself your feedback on these options.

Minutes.
Attendance: Sam very kindly manned the door this week. At one stage he was worried that the books did not balance. Nooka is a trained accountant, so he never worries about such trivialities. Sam indicated there were 24 members ‘with a few extras’ present. The 24 count was correct, but there were no extras present unfortunately.
Meal: Frittata with salad and chips. First class.
Sgt Paul kicked off on time before introducing the president. Your correspondent had very little to say and vacated the microphone in favour of our hard-working directors. In reports;
· Bob informed us the Golden Community Raffle ticket books will be here next week. In leu of our raffle, members are asked to sell/buy two books of tickets each, with proceeds going directly to the club.
· Boré continues to work on his plan to support the Rotarians Against Malaria Vanuatu project. He noted that a vaccine has recently been developed for Malaria after decades of research and this should greatly aid our fight against this terrible disease. Hopefully we will have a guest speaker on the subject soon.
· Bob reported that Mal, Boré, Nooka, Bob, Lew, Hayesey and himself had supported the Neil Porter Foundation last Monday. Those members escorted Braeur College students to various work experience sites. The project continues next Monday. Well done to all those involved.
· Peter Lynch invited members to support RSL active by attending the dinner before the Jericho Cup. See below for details.
· Bob pointed out that if you would like to join us at the Jericho Cup (and I hope you do), then you will need to purchase a ticket to the day’s races more or less now. We have organized some umbrellas. The cost will be $27 (separate to your entry fee). BYO food and drinks available on course.
· Bill thanked those members how purchased his book detailing the history of the Warrnambool Co-op. All funds go to Brophy Youth Services. Talk to Bill if you would like a copy.
Les initiated an interesting discussion about the future role of Rotary and whether Warrnambool needed four Rotary Clubs. There were a range of very interesting points made. Fines from the floor followed. Your correspondent was not fined for having not yet drawn up a roster now that we are meeting again, but possibly I deserved to be.
Trev won the barrel draw and pocketed the plonk. The meeting was wound up and members strolled out into the sunshine. We continue to enjoy the return to something approaching normal.
Ten years ago.
Ten years ago, KY was inducted into the club. Pip Ritchie reported at the time;
‘David Jellie was inducted into the Club. In a typical feral induction ceremony ‘Junior’ conducted the induction while his phone was ringing in his pocket - and referred to David as Peter. ‘Junior’ got there in the end, and he presented the wine to David, with a warm welcome to the club.’
Ten years ago we also started giving Christmas gift advice to members.
