Tickler’s ramble.
Big roll up Wednesday just gone maybe members travelling less due to the fires disaster relief was
high on the agenda and likely continue that way for some time yet. Will speak on our clubs response
Wednesday.

Apologies to Macca.
Also meeting apologies are now directed via the Club Secretary (Me) preferred no later than Tuesday night prior a meeting.
Bushfire Fundraiser.
Our President announced last week that Bob McMillan is organising a bushfire relief fundraiser. After
considering options like a fun-run or a 40-hour famine type fundraiser, Bob blind sighted everyone.
Bob has unexpectedly suggested that we go down to the rubbity dub and sink a few germaine greers.
Details;
The Warrnambool Hotel, Australia Day, 1-6pm. All proceeds to bushfire relief and recovery. Four
Rotarians are needed to cook snags on the barbie.
Bob has googled the Warrnambool Hotel and reports that it is apparently on the corner of Kepler and
Koroit.
Rotary Horse update.
At last week’s meeting Lynchy dropped the bombshell that someone had offered us $14K for Vassa
Blue. It turns out that our long-suffering trainer has responded to his recent form by shopping the him
about on the open market. The trainer has advised us that ‘the horse’s value will only drop each time
he runs.’
Your correspondent has become quite attached to the big gelding. The horse is a dead set low-flying
rocket ship when he wants to run fast. Of course, most of the time he just can’t be fagged; certainly not during training, and almost never during a race. Fair enough too, there is not reason why Vassa should run fast just for us.
Although I would be sad to lose the horse, I am resigned to seeing him sold. The question then arises
as to what our syndicate should do now. It is just a thought, but I think we should buy a greyhound
and ask colourful greyhound racing identity Matt ‘Four Pies’ Northeast to manage the dog for us.
Vassa Blue – seen here during the only time in his life when he has ever tried to run fast.
Roster.
All last year your correspondent gave Penno a hard time about his plan for choosing a finesmaster. To be fair, Penno's plan was perfectly reasonable, it just didn't survive contact with our members. Last week I drew up a roster. Not a single member who was rostered on to do a job actually did it. I am just glad Penno is away, otherwise I would be copping some flack. For what it is worth, I have published another roster again this week.
Roots and Shoots.
Jane Goodall has set up a charity called Roots and Shoots. I don’t know much about ‘Roots and Shoots’, but it sounds like a good afternoon for Glendon.
