Minutes
Attendance: Nooka announced it was ‘good to be back’ before declaring that Glenn’s efficient and effective work on the door was ‘boring’. Eighteen members, no guests and, having filled our entire annual quota last week, no visiting Rotarians.
Meal: Fish and chips.
Paul, standing in for Robbo who was standing in for Dillo, introduced Matt, who was standing in for Rob. Matt spoke of the lovely send off for Past DG Andrew Suggett. He also spoke of the passing of Rotarian Ian Cairns. Matt has organised a wreath to be placed on ANZAC day, which Malcolm will place for the club.
Matt also announced that prospective out bound exchange student Lexi Forbes and her father, Paul, will speak to us on May 8th.
Finally, Matt thanked Hutto for organising the Thoroughbred Luncheon, thanked Brendan and David for the chess table (to be auctioned at the event) and reminded everyone to give Bob their bottle of wine (also to be auctioned).
In reports;
· Tony D informed members that the first batch of 60,000 pharmaceutical blister packs is about to be collected by Pharmacycle for recycling.
· Hutto has set up the Fight Myeloma #2 syndicate to bid on the share of the horse at the Myeloma Luncheon.
· Hutto and Brendan announced details of our container collection project during the May Racing Carnival.
· Hutto announced that Lindsay Bullivant has organised for a charitable organization to match dollar for dollar the proceeds from our can collection at the races. While details are scarce, this is very exciting news.
· Hutto also informed us the Warrnambool Weekly are doing stories on both the luncheon and our container recycling project.
We had some O’Brien time and then fines from the floor. Matt asked members to consider nominations for a Paul Harris Fellowship before closing the meeting.
Remember, no meeting next week (other than informally at the Mantrap Bar) and we will be back on Wednesday the 9th.
