As Essendon played every player on its list this season, so did our club turn to Robinson as acting president for the day.

Desperate to be retained on the list for next season I donned a jacket, tie and cuff links in order to make a good impression, particularly upon any visiting Rotarians or members guests. There were none.
But let the record note that I presided over a record attendance I suspect, namely 25 of us plus Maria.
As the half schnitzels were distributed, there were a number of reports. Ian McPhail reminded us that next Friday, 10 October we have our tenpin bowling and pizza night. A show of hands indicated what should be a solid attendance. no doubt we'll be expected to commit at next Wednesday's meeting.
Ian has also determined that as we did our trivia night in February this year, we will do it in February next year rather than November as he was planning. Instead, we'll be running a "Thank God You're Here " night on what looks like being Friday, 14 November. Venue will be the Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club where the bowler's section will act as the Green Room. Arrangements will be confirmed shortly, but hopefully there won't be any problems with the date and venue. No acting experience is necessary. Scripts and some basic coaching will be provided before each skit. It would be a bring your own meal, with drinks from the tennis club.
Jon Vertigan reported on the previous Wednesdays joint club evening meeting at the RSL. Sounded like a good night even though Boré steadfastly refused to swap his chicken filo for Verto's lamb roast.
In light of Hutto and Marg's departure to Melbourne in the next couple of weeks, Brian Dillon advised there will be drinks/meal for anyone who would like to attend 6 pm at the Warrnambool Hotel next Monday night 6 October.
Glenn advised there are still some members who haven't paid their subs, and asked that you check with him if you're not sure.
Nooka reported a great roll-up of 25 members plus Maria. He also noted 23 apologies...... all from Geelong

Big Bob stepped up as finemaster, delivering an entertaining and lucrative session based on the week that was. There were a couple of fines from the floor, and personally I was disappointed not to remember to fine Bim Affleck after I ran into a fellow during the week who said he thought Bim was looking very athletic because every time he saw him he was on his bike. I told him Bim's got a battery on that bike that could power a small city!
In the absence of a guest speaker, we enjoyed hearing from Maria regarding her recent activities including skiing at Mount Hotham, and having a look at the countryside and visiting Broken Hill.
