Rotarians

We will have another Rotary Central happy hour and Covid catchup on Wednesday 30th September at 6pm. It would be great to see as many of you zoom in to hear the latest adventures of our members. I’ll forward an invite to you all in the next day or two. I was hoping that we could get back to some normality after Sunday but it wasn’t to be.

I do however have exciting news. Our Club Service Director - Big Bob - has arranged for a bowls night at City Memorial Bowls Club on Thursday 8th October. Dinner is booked for 6pm if you wish to have a bite to eat beforehand. Bowling under cover and under lights will commence at approximately 7.30pm. This will be a fun night so please R.S.V.P. to Bob by Monday 6th October. Bob’s email is bobmcmillan5@bigpond.com

Lew Officer has very kindly donated a couple of cracker bottles of wine (Penfolds Bin 389 2010 vintage) to be auctioned online. Thank you Lew for your generous donation, I’m sure a bidding war is in order for some Baby Grange.  I’ve started with $150 and it seems I’m still the clubhouse leader!

The Spring Racing carnival is in full swing and it’s pleasing to see Sirileo Miss strutting her stuff – albeit in a trial at Coleraine. Well, you got to start somewhere!

Cheers and have a good week

Ronnie

Lew's wine auction.
Our illustrious President is not wrong about many things, but he is wrong about the wine auction.  His bid of $150 was very generous but he is not the clubhouse leader.  The Feather Duster (a.k.a. The Tickler) has chimed in with a timely bid of $200.  This is still a very good price for the two bottles of bottles of Penfolds 389.

You can place your bid on our Messenger page or email us at bulletin.warrnamboolcentral@gmail.com and we will place the bid for you.

Walk for Brain Cancer.

On Sunday 27th September at 10:00 am a group of about 50 people loosely assembled near the breakwater. Simultaneously there were others walking in Melbourne, Gisborne, Bendigo and Canberra all walking for the same cause.

The Warrnambool crew walked to Grannies Grave and back remembering Matt O’Neill and raising money for brain cancer research.

Team Mattyo raised in excess of $3,500 and over $1.5 million was raised across Australia.

Thanks to the club members that donated to support this cause or walked on the day. You have all been a great support to me and my family.

That's right Brendan, we were, err, social distancing from you.  Seriously though, well done!

Precautions in a time of pandemic.

When making love, it is important to take precautions in the interests of everyone's health and wellbeing.  Lew Officer sends us this report.

If you are looking for a bite to eat...

Ten years ago.

If I am being honest, there wasn't a lot going on in our club exactly ten years ago this week.  However, ten years ago today BP finally capped the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.  It is interesting to remember what we were talking about ten years ago.
