Attendance: Nooka chalked up twenty members and one guest, Maria.
Meal: After telling Robbo he could not possibly produce pasta carbonara for twenty odd people all at once and it would need to be done as a bake, our chef seems to have accidently cooked twenty-one pasta carbonaras. It was excellent. If no one reminds him it can’t be done, we might get it again.
Drill Seargent Bullivant sounded the reveille bugle before introducing our president-elect, Paul. Paul reminded members of the many upcoming events (see list above) before inquiring as to the number of visiting Rotarians. The answer, as it turned out, was zero.
In reports;
- Jon advised us that we will join Beach Patrol Warrnambool for a beach clean-up, perhaps early next year.
- Tony D. spoke about us collecting cans at Relay for Life again.
- Surf advised us that Ten Pin Bowling would be on Friday night, followed by a meal at Bojangles. After some discussion amongst members, Surf advised that we would go to Bowling and then the Seanchai on Friday. After further discussion, Surf announced the whole thing will be rescheduled for a Wednesday at some point in the future. Honestly Surf, it is like herding cats sometimes.
- Surf also announced our Thank God You Are Here night will be held on the 14th of November.
- Surf is planning our fist meeting back after Christmas/New Year to be a meal and lawn bowls night. Stay tuned.
- Greg advised that we have decided to redirect the funds we were planning to use on NYSF towards a student from Brauer who wants to attend the National Maths Summer School. That student may come and present to us soon.
- Matt announced that the Grand Final Sweep had a theoretical prize pool of $75 which had been won, in theory, by Lorraine O’Brien. Congratulations Lorraine. In practice nobody has paid Matt so the prize pool remains more of a theoretical concept than a practical reality. Rowan noted Lorraine had tipped Brisbane just to annoy him.
- Hutto announced that we will be collecting cans at the Summer Touring Concert at the Racecourse on January 16th.
Maria gave us an update on her exploits at Mount Hotham, Broken Hill, Dunkeld and at paint balling. Maria observed that pain balling really hurt and gave her bruises.
Boré gave us an excellent presentation on Shelter Box. We were reminded of what an important role Shelter Box plays in providing shelter and other necessary items for people who have lost their homes to disaster, conflict or climate crisis. Boré noted that the price of boxes has gone up but hopefully we can find a way to support this great Rotary project.

Glenn then gave us an excellent fines session quiz before the barrel was drawn and Lew took home the rich prize purse on offer.
Marg and Hutto are moving to Melbourne on Tuesday. Of course, we hope to see Hutto regularly in future and hope he visits us often. However, it would be timely to note that Hutto is a charter member of our club and has been really the best club member we could ever hope to have. His great humour combined with tireless work on so many of our Rotary projects will be very much missed. We wish Hutto and Marg good health and every success in their move to Melbourne and closer to family
