Attendance: Nooka addressed your correspondent with ‘don’t you take any more bloody photos’ before announcing 22 members and 2 guests. Nooka had originally calculated 21 members and 3 guests before receiving the wonderful news that Garry has joined us again. Great to have you back Garry. Our guests were Maria and Bob Smith, Gerald’s son’s father in-law. Regrettably, Boré was absent the one day we had a Dutch-speaking interpreter and equally unfortunately Robbo was absent and missed an excellent pasta carbonara bake.
Meal: The above-mentioned pasta carbonara bake. The chef has now perfected the technique, and it was al dente. Perfection in a bowl.
The lectern started to develop a lean.
Sgt Jon got us off the line with an excellent and professional Chat GPT authored ad for the ‘Bonney Range of Shirts’. Good stuff. Jon then introduced club president and avid Central Spoke reader Matt Northeast.
Unlike his presentation, Matt's notes quickly went downhill.
Matt reminded us that the club AGM will be on May 28th, with Knuckles chairing the august proceedings. Bono has now appointed a full board, and Jon was finally advised that he has volunteered for it. Matt also reminded us that the changeover dinner will be held on the 20th of June. He was pleased to announce that we have donated $150 to relay for life after collecting $101.30 worth of cans at the event. We have also donated $500 to Story Dogs to sponsor a dog team. The Golden Community Raffle is up and going and Matt encouraged everyone to attend the Myeloma Walk on the 30th of March (see Bob’s report below).

- Paul gave us a very healthy treasurer’s report.
- Bob reminded members to pick up two raffle books if they haven’t received them already. He advised that you could pay Nooka through cash or EFTPOS or pay Bob with cash.
- Bob also asked members to sign up to the Myeloma Walk and come wearing your Rotary Shirt. This year we will walk in memory of our much-missed Charter President Bruce Ludeman, who died from Myeloma recently. It would be great to have a really big club turn out for the event.
- Hutto advised us that the Myeloma Luncheon was oversubscribed. He is still looking for door prizes so please talk to Hutto if you know any local businesses who may be interested in donating something. Hutto will also be looking for a bottle of wine from each member except for Pip. The bottles should be of at least $25 value. All proceeds from the auctioning of these wines returns to the club.
- Rowan informed us that the University of the Third Age will be holding a ‘Coastal Hazards’ workshop at Deakin University on April 16th (see below). While at first glance this might seem to be a workshop about all the aluminium masts and boat hulls Rowan has discarded into local waters, it is actually about how we manage coastal living in a time of rapid climate change.
- Dillo reminded members that we will meet at Hycel at Deakin University. We have included an image below that shows you how to get to Hospice. Follow all but the last two arrows apparently. 11.30 start, lunch at the Uni café at 12.30.
- Nooka informed us that Bullant and Dutchy are out in front after shrewdly electing not to participate and receiving the home teams and a five point head start in return.
- Brendan and Linda welcomed the birth of their first grandchild, Leo. Congratulations to the family.
Maria gave us an update on her activities before we had some fines from the floor. The barrel was drawn and both Hutto and Lew claimed victory despite neither wearing their badge. A mad scramble to the badge case saw Lew find his badge first and claim the free grub voucher.
