President's Report.

Hi everyone,

I trust that you have all enjoyed a lovely cold and wet long weekend.

I am pleased to report that Bishop Scott is back home in Warrnambool and doing well. He now has to take it easy for the next 6 weeks however as I write this I am watching the Dees v Pies and I am pretty sure he might not be resting.

Happy birthday to James Mepham during the week. Jimmy is off camping freezing to death to celebrate the occasion.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Wednesday.

Cheers, Matt

Rotten Returns

With 19 Rotarians, family and friends in our Push-up Challenge group this year, we have really got our act together and are getting stuck in for our mental and physical health, and to support Lifeline South West.  Of course the Push-up Challenge is not everyone's cup of tea, or indeed everyone's glass of wine.  Ron writes;

The reason I'm not participating in the Push-up Challenge - I don't want to overtrain.

Push-up Challenge.

Week one is complete and our hardy team has completed 8,148 push-ups (or similar) and raised $1,585 for Lifeline Southwest.  Great work everyone.

Minutes.
Attendance: Nooka, as unerringly accurate with his attendance reports as a Melbourne player kicking for goal, recorded 19 members and one guest, Maria, in attendance.

Meal: Pasta carbonara bake.  The chef continues to experiment with the effects of various mushroom varieties on his test subjects.

There are a few strategies to cope with Melbourne losing due to inaccurate kicking;
1. Sit there and quietly stew.
2. Comfort eat pasta carbonara bake.
3. Fight with Max Gawn.

Green is the new black.

Sgt Jon gave us a below par Koroit Street Joke before introducing our President, Matt.  Matt informed us;
  • The club will donate $1,000 to each of Interplast, Anglicare and Rotary Health this year.
  • We will also donate $500 to Ross Dean’s school breakfast program.
  • The Trigg Foundation has again very generously matched our container recycling efforts dollar for dollar.  A big thank you to the Trigg Foundation.
  • Bishop Scott has been unwell and had surgery in St Vincents.  We are thinking of Scott and wish him a speedy recovery.
  • If you have not yet rsvp’s for the changeover dinner, please do so now in the Stack app.
In reports;
  • Tony D reminded members of the working bee at Tooram Memorial Park, 10,00am Sunday June 15th
  • Boré advised that Moses has been unwell and cannot drive for 6 months.  We wish Moses well.
  • President-elect Bono has been talking to James M., who is working in the ‘Bool and should be able to return to meetings soon.
  • Brendan also informed us Steve Giblin will present to us next week about a proposed mental health movie night for local farmers hopefully to be held in Koroit.
  • Shane advised members to return their Golden Community Raffle tickets now.
  • Jon encouraged members to join us in the Push-up Challenge.  We have a good group of close to twenty members, family and friends taking part this year.
  • Nooka advised that Marlo, T-bone and Rotten were leading the footy tipping.
  • Brendan informed us that Rob Harris is in St John’s in Geelong being treated for Leukaemia.  We are thinking of you Rob.
  • Bono is also looking for a registered or registerable trailer that we can have for a very low price that we can keep.  Fortunately The Compass very generously offered his trailer for exactly the right price.
Maria then gave us a wonderful account of her life back in sunny Warrnambool now that she has returned from the North.  Tim Goodall very generously offered Maria a full wetsuit so she can surf in the tropical waters off our coast.  Maria will be turning 18 on two weeks.  A dinner is planned for the 27th or 28th of June.  Stay tuned.
A lively fines from the floor was followed by the barrel draw, which was won by our hard-working President.  We had some O’Brien time before stumps were drawn on another excellent meeting.  Members wandered out of the bowlo and wondered what this strange liquid leaking out of the sky was.

As well as throwing in the Presidial robes, it seems that Matt is offloading the family seaside bold hole in Wales...Compass Cottage!

Technology.

Most of us are old enough to have gone through vinyl records, cassette tapes, compact discs, iPods, and now streaming apps like Spotify.  Along the way there have even been a few esoteric formats that never quite caught on, like Sony's MiniDiscs.  This week Pip takes us on a trip down memory lane;

Ten Years Ago.

Ten years ago, we reported that Carlton and Essendon were very disappointing and would have been making Melbourne look good, except Melbourne had just played St Kilda.  Matt sent us this report ten years ago.  No confirmation that Melbourne kicked 5.53 on the day.
Inaccurate kicking, loosing close games - it is a tradition that goes way back.
