Rotary Meeting Tuesday October 8^th, 2019

90^th Birthday - A reminder for those planning on attending the 90^th Birthday Celebrations to let Terry know and to make payments ASAP please. We only have 17 paid and 12 others intending at this stage. The preparations and planning are well under way for a fantastic night but we need members to be present please.

 

Lift the Lid – Thank you to all members who contributed to our 2 Hampers and to Cathy, Tony, Lou K, and Ian C for volunteering on the roster to sell tickets at Bunnings.

The Rotary Club of Warrnambool Daybreak are very appreciative of the assistance given by other Rotary Clubs in raising funds at Bunnings for Lift the Lid, on the weekend of October 5-6.  On Saturday we raised the total of $789.15 and on Sunday the total of $308.40 giving a total pool of $1097.55 for the weekend.  Bunnings have said their foot traffic was also down on the Sunday given the weather was not as good as the Saturday.

All Hampers were delivered to the winners on Monday Oct 7. The winners of the hampers were:

I discussed reporting of the event on Club Central with John Clue ADG and as a result I will put in the full amount of funds collected on the report while acknowledging it is a contribution of the four Clubs participating.  Please contact me if you have an issue with this.  Liza McCosh (RCW Daybreak President)

 

Warrnambool District Community Hospice – Thank you to Svet, Anne, Delia, Keith, Brian and Allan for volunteering to assist at their Art Auction Dinner on Sat October 19^th from 5:30 pm at the Pavilion on the Sports ground at Deakin Uni. Further details will be distributed in the coming week.

 

Bunnings BBQ – Our next Bunnings BBQ is on Saturday Nov 9^th. Thank you to those who have put their name on the Roster. You will be given further details in the coming weeks.

BBQ Coordinator Position – We are in need of a BBQ Coordinator and Tony will address this with the members at our next ‘ordinary’ meeting. Please have a think about whether this could be something you could do to contribute to our club.

 

Please consider if/when/how you might be able to involve Joey in your lives to enrich his experiences while here on exchange. He will be spending the next few months with George but is available for any outings, meals, trips or any other experiences you would be willing to share.

 

One of the important aspects of Rotary is caring for our fellow members. We all have stronger ties with some members in the club than others and often times we notice that someone might be missing from meetings for a number of weeks and we are not sure how they are travelling. If you are aware of a member who is not travelling so well and could do with a bit of support, please ensure you make John (Chair of Membership Committee) aware so we can ensure someone is touching base and providing any help needed.

 

 

Ella Titmus – Ella has been sponsored to attend the National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) in Brisbane next year. Ella gave us an insight into her current involvements and aspirations in the field of Science and the process she has been through to date to qualify. Ella has a passion for STEM and has a particular interest in Environmental and Medical Science and in particular nano-technology. She plans on attending James Cook University to do Vet Science or General Science. She has been involved in the Future Leaders of Warrnambool program, Netball, Cross Fit, Surf Club with the Nippers and Patrols, Fight for the Bight and Life-Line walk for Suicide just to name a few. We wish Ella all the best for her NYSF experience and look forward to her report on her return.

 

 

Chairman Tony Austin welcome the Wannon Water team of Annabelle and Annie. Tony thanked Wannon Water for their contribution to the PNG project since 2016 as the most significant Corporate and Industry Supporter.

 

The aim of Annabelle’s presentation was to get feedback from club members that would provide WW with the opportunity to improve their services. Some information about WW services was provided to give us some background into what they do.

 

Provide sewerage services.

Life is only as good as your mindset.

Joey went fishing in Nelson over the weekend. It looks like a good time was had. What a catch!

 

Andrea and Chris represented the Club in attending George McLeod and partner Brooke Jensen's Engagement Party in Brisbane over the weekend. It was a casual affair in the Southbank Parklands with plenty of food, drink, family, friends, and Mario Kart of course.
