What a wonderful reception as the incoming President. It’s an honour to be undertaking this role for the year. A big thankyou to all who organised the Changeover dinner particularly Anne Adams and Judy Ross. It was a great evening and good to have the District Governor there Kathy Rivett. Thank-you to Robbie for doing the Invocation. We tried a new one this time and there have, to date, been no negative comments. Feel free to bring examples to the Board to change this if you wish. There is a roster of members who will be doing the Invocation throughout the year. This roster along with the fellowship roster will be included weekly in the Bulletin. Please organise another member to do your task or if you can’t get anyone give Kelly Curran a call and she can find someone.
We welcomed visiting Rotarian Petr Smidt from Daybreak who will be inducted next week. Justin Harzmeyer and Shaun Lucas from Warrnambool City Council, Andrew Ross and Jenny Lewis. We had apologies from Ron Bishop, Brian Trenery and Ian Sharman. Justin and Shaun outlined the Merri River Project – an interesting talk with Svet as Chairperson and Cathy Bligh presented the gift. Several members did CPR and First Aid training last weekend. Tony Auston, Janet Blackley, Ann Donaldson, George McLeod, Brooke Jensen, Glenn Brotchie and Ann Body. It was a very worthwhile training and we will be reviewing our emergency response procedures at the Board.
We received a thankyou letter from Frank Thompson Chairman of District 9780 DIK thanking our clubs generous support of the district humanitarian aid program. At the Daybreak Changeover function Tony Austin was presented with the Community Services Award. A very worthy recipient. As mentioned we have potentially two Board positions vacant, Vice President and President Elect. Tony Austin has agreed to undertake the Vice President position unless anyone else steps forward. Please have a think about who you think would be good in these positions. Its really important to have a range of members on the Board to get diversity of opinions. Please let me know your
thoughts.
A reminder that next weeks meeting will be a Club Assembly – the Board welcomes your opinions.
Our goal for the Club assembly is to, as a club,
1. Confirm which of the existing projects we want to continue with
2. Confirm which ones we want to finalise
3. Discuss and identify any possible new projects we want to under take
Depending on numbers we will break up into Service areas to discuss this and present briefly back to the meeting.
There is also a Board meeting after the meeting so all Board members please attend.
Have a great week
Janet Blackley
President
