Anne's Message

It was a delight to welcome so many visitors to our meeting. It was good to welcome guests of Rotarians Leanne Dart and, Joe Kenny. Visiting Rotarians included   Past President Michael Boyd and his brand-new wife Sharon, who is a past secretary of our Club. Michael and Sharon are celebrating their honeymoon.  We also welcomed Tony Carson and PP Diane Carson from Warragul. 

Welcome back to Tony Austin after his running repairs. We are all glad he is looking so well Ann and Andrew Body were club guests, and we look forward to them joining our club soon.

We received apologies from Brian Trenery, John Beks, Svetlana Lineham, Ian Cairns, and Kelly Curran. 

Last Sunday Brooke, George and I attended the Warrnambool and Moyne Youth Awards and presented $200 prizes to the winners in each category. 

Kings College the local winner of the Science and Engineering Challenge is now in the national finals in Bendigo in mid-October. We will watch their progress with interest 

Polio Plus movie night was on last evening. Thank you to the members who have bought tickets and made donations. It will be an opportunity to support a good cause and enjoy some Rotary fellowship.

Saturday morning four members will work as marshals for the half marathon run by the Warrnambool Athletics Club. The weather does not look good but at least we do not have to run. 

Our speaker for next week has had to reschedule so we will have to wait for a surprise.

Brooke
Brooke will be doing some face painting at the 'Warrnambool Rollers' Roller Disco on September 17th from 7pm til end of event at 10pm. Located at the Warrnambool showgrounds Pavilion 1. Brooke is happy to teach anyone how to paint, but would love one or two persons company to help take money or interact with event goers about Rotary. Even if you can only give 2 or so hours, it'll be appreciated. Please let Brooke know if you are interested.

Help Needed from Warrnambool Atheltics Club
Race Marshals needed on Sunday18th September for a Marathon starting at 8.00 am
Expected time 1-2 hours
We will be paid $20 per hour per person

Milk Bottle Caps
Letting all members know we are collecting milk bottle tops (Please wash them thoroughly) and bread bag tags. Bring them along too Rotary and Judy can take them. 
The 5c Jar
is now known as The Loose Change Jar.  We will continue collecting money for the END POLIO NOW project. We are THIS CLOSE.

I have a question for you.

At our weekly Rotary meeting, do you sit at the same table, with the same people at the same venue – or even at other venues?
The beginnings of our organisation were based on four businessmen “ROTATING” among each friend’s office with the aim of improving their friendship and knowledge of each business. Should be continue that method of getting to know each other better?

Badge Duty 
As mentioned on Tuesday night, now we have our new Dinner Badges, and the Badge board has been adapted to hold them, we will re-commence the role of Fellowship duty each week, whereby two members will greet members and guests and hand out the name badges.  Judy will be keeping a grip on the Badge board until the storage area is sorted out - currently a huge mess - not a safe repository for over $700 worth of badges.  She will be up at the Footy club by 5.45pm each Tuesday night to hand over the board to the members on duty

As announced on Tuseday night, King's College (our regional winner of the Science and Engineering Challenge), have qualified for the National Final. The final is being held in Bendigo on October 21st. While there, schools will have a formal dinner and a change to tour a local STEM related industry.
 
To help them on their journey, the challenge themselves has offered $500. Deakin University have also contributed $500, and following a board decision, our club will offer $500. With sponsorship for their accommodation organised with a local connecting school, King's College have accepted the invitation to compete at the national challenge.
 
Congratulations to King's College.
