Weekly Bulletin (Feb. 04, 2024)

It was wonderful to see David Brown return to Rotary tonight, family duty out of town finished for now. Welcome back to Lola good to see you are feeling better. Thank you to Leon who as always was a gracious and efficient Sargent and Judy Ross who did the invocation. We had apologies from Jim Hanrahan and Rachel Furnell.

It has been a busy week for me, and I apologise for the late Bulletin for last week. I am doing better with it this week.

My announcements
1. The Book sale which Anne will report on was a wonderful success and a big thank you for Annes organising and to Tony for the use of the Warrnambool Club.
2. Glen Brotchie has kindly offered to be the first to offer his presentation services to present a 3–5-minute talk on a Rotary topic. The plan is to have a member, preferably a newer member, present something about Rotary / Rotary foundation to inform and educate members about the amazing extent of Rotary activities worldwide. Members are asked to advise Kelly or myself when they think of a topic they can present. Longer term members are there to help.
3. A reminder that our District conference is on in the 15 th to 17 th of March in Mount Gambier, I hope more members can come to a fun and informative weekend.
4. District 9018 Conference is being held in Warrnambool on 22 nd to 24 th of March. We will be assisting at the conference in some way. More info to come later.
5. The Crossley night is planned for Feb 20 th . Call me if you need a ride.
6. The Veterans weekend is on the 23, 24, 25 Feb and we have been asked to help with the BBQ.

Member Announcements
1. Anne Adams thanked everyone for their help with the Booksale including Tony and Joan Austin, Chris Stebbing, Alan Bowes, Keith McLeod, Ron Biship, Margaret Ross, Graham Ward and Jenny, Robbie Blackmore, Judy Ross, Ann and Barb Donaldson, Cathy Bligh, Brian and Jenny Trenery, Peter Smid, Terry O’Neill, Glen Brotchie, Sharon Kenny, Greg Lee, Svet Lineham Brooke and George McLeod, I hope I have not left anyone out. A record amount was raised which will go to our clubs Rotary Projects. Big thanks to Brooke and Tony for the Facebook advertising. A huge thankyou to Ann Donaldson for her generous donation of quilts made by herself and Barbara and all their work put in over the weekend.
2. Judy Ross thanked members for their donations for the raffle and Brooke for drawing the raffle and distribution of the prizes.
3. Judy Ross asked members if they could let her, or Chris Stebbing know if anyone knows of a good driving instructor for the RYDA program.
4. Graeme Ward spoke about the Warrnambool Rotary Clubs environmental project involving the collection of blister packs through various chemist shops including Soulsbury and Streuth, Target Discount Chemist, Infinity Chemist, Archie Graham centre and Anchor Point. You can drop your blister packs at the allocated spots or give them to Robbie still. This sounds like a good project, thankyou to Graeme for representing our club on the local committee.
5. Robbie Blackmore reminded members of the social event on Sunday 11th Feb at the Union Hotel Woolsthorpe at 1.00pm sitting. Let Robbie know if you and partners, family or friends can come along.
6. Glen Brotchie reminded members of the Golf Day on March 22 nd at Framlingham.
Program

This week’s speaker was Levi Geebung who leads the Gunditjmara Men’s Group with an objective of creating a culturally safe environment where men can flourish. Levi presented an interesting and interactive talk about his background and his work. Levi had out a lot of effort into his presentation and received many questions as a result.

Next weeks program is Anton Hockey talking abut the RYDA program. We look forward to hearing from him.
