It was a wonderful meeting on Tuesday with guest speaker Sharyn Anderson presenting information about Dorothea Mackellar. It is clear Sharyn has a wealth of knowledge about Dorothea and her life from her research with the PhD. We wish Sharyn luck as she completes the final months of her degree.

RYLA 2025
will take place in the April 2025 school holidays. We are seeking participants to attend aged between 18-25 at the time of the camp. Applications will open around October. If you have anyone in mind, please contact Rachel.

Youth Exchange
Rotary internationally promotes youth exchange across the globe. Our district has 3 incoming 16 year old students for the 2025 year. Maria from Brazil will be living here in Warrnambool, and as such we are looking for homestays for Maria. This basically means taking on board Maria in your house for a minimum of 6 weeks. She will be attending school and volunteering at Rotary events while here in Warrnambool. If you are not able to take her on board, there are options that if you are doing something fun or 'cool', you are welcome to take Maria along as she is here is experience everything Australian culture. Peter has offered to bring her to the Australian Open for example.
Please get in contact with me about what is means to be a homestay parent.

The Folkie is just around the corner!
Each year we provide volunteer support to the folkie. The requirement is for each volunteer to work two shifts of 6 hours a shift over the course of the long weekend in Tent 5 as ushers providing guidance/directions to festival patrons. In return for this work volunteers receive a weekend pass to the Folkie.

IT’S A WOMANS WORLD
It is a woman's world. Often they say “it’s a mans world”, but how could it be? If a woman is short, she is petite. If a man is short, he’s a regular little runt.
Lacking bravery, a woman is timid. A man is a coward.
A woman who is inept at earning a living is the domestic type, but a man who is inept at earning a living is considered a ne’er-do-well.
An unworldly girl is innocent. An unworldly man isn’t dry behind the ears.
A woman who has a job in a masculine field such as engineering is a pioneer. A male dressmaker is a sissy, so they say.
A girl stays single because she prefers a career. A man stays single because he is egotistical and selfish.
A woman who jilts a man is merely exercising a feminine prerogative. A man who jilts a woman is cruel and heartless.
And yet, after he’s a fiver out of pocket because of dinner, flowers, theatre, and a taxi – they say it’s the woman who pays!!!
