Meeting held at Alan Lane Pavillion Ian Cairns opened meeting @ 6:15 Members comments: - Anne Adams: Made comments about the WFC and catering. Will get back to members regarding the issue, and where future meetings will be.
- Duncan Stalker: Re Eric Williams and his memorial. Tuesday 25th February @ 2:30pm there will be an opening of the memorial at the RSL. All Rotarians are invited to attend. Please let Duncan know in advance for catering purposes.
- Alan Bowes: Re Stewart Bell, a past member who has passed away. More information on Stewart to follow.
- Judy Ross: Re Tony Austin. Tony has advised that he is at home and coming along quite well. He is hoping to attend the next meeting. Members have already contacted him to pass on good wishes.
- Glenn Brotchie: Re the Dinner Auction. The letters will be printed and folded in time for next week. We will start the ‘putting in envelopes’ at 5:00pm next week, to be posted out on Weds/Thursday. Glenn also advised that members will be required to do more visitations this year with the resignations of members, absentees, and inabilities to do so.
- Joey Frantz: Advised members of his comings and goings over the past couple of weeks. He particularly enjoyed going to the tennis with Duncan, where he saw some great players. He also had a trip along the coast, sold raffle tickets, and is back into the music arena. School of course has restarted.
Fines: Trevor Williams again performed admirably, being able to take money of members and guests with ease. Auction One: Joeys Melting moments. (What cant the boy do.) John Hunt ended up paying $20 for a jar. Auction Two: The antique Towel Rail. This was purchased for $17 by the Forbes family Auction Three: Bottle of Celebrations went for $10 being purchased by Anne Adams. Monique Forbes: Chairperson Louise introduced Monique Forbes to the members, an briefly spoke about the benefits of being on Youth Exchange. Monique then gave an in-depth and enjoyable talk on her 12 months in France. Places stayed at were Angouleme, Bourdeaux, and Lycee St Paul, where she stayed with 3 families, enjoying each experience immensely. Monique spoke at length about her city experiences, her trips around France and Europe, and the holidays spent at Cap Ferret. Monique thanked Rotary International, especially her host clubs for giving her such a wonderful experience. Monique was also very grateful to Louise Keogh for all the assistance given to her.
