Weekly Message

This week saw Maria present back to us after returning from the safari trip in Western Australia. She is a true Aussie now having gone camping in the outback and eating kangaroo! Maria has returned to a cold Warrnambool!

Many guests in attendance, which included:
Maria's school friends Izzy, Tess and Keela; Rex and Sally Harris and former Rotarian John Stuckey.
Friend of Rotary Phillip Ross was a visitor.

Rex is our applicant towards the Youth Exchange program leaving the country in Jan 2026. Rex and the Family are 110% on board. We are still looking for the mentor for Rex. The mentor does not need to physically attend all 4 away weekends, but be a link between the club, the district and Rex (attending at least one weekend would be good though). As a club though, we do need a representative at each weekend to support Rex, but to also take Maria as she is required. This doesn't have to be the same person. George will be attending the first weekend in Halls Gap, but please consider potentially putting your hand up to attend one of the other weekends.

- Halls Gap (31st May-1st June) (selection weekend)
- Ballarat (21st or 22nd June) (District selection)
- Horsham (20th July) (first outbound briefing)
- TBC (8th/9th Nov) (final outbound briefing)
(last weekend will most likely be in Geelong, but TBC).

Brooke's plee:
Rex's application has been given to all Warrnambool clubs and the port fairy club with no success. If we cannot help him, I'm unsure if he will progress without the district finding him a club outside our region.

Apologies:
Peter Smid, Glenn Brotchie, John Hunt, Angela Wheeler, Graeme Ward, David Brown.

Have a great week

WHY PARENTS HAVE GREY HAIR
The boss of a big company needed to call one of his employees about an urgent problem. He dialled the employee’s home phone number and was greeted with a child’s whisper:
“Hello?”
Feeling put out at the inconvenience of having to talk to a youngster, the boss asked: “Is your Daddy home?”
“Yes,” whispered the small voice. (If you are a parent you’ll relate!!)
“May I talk with him?”, the man asked.
To the surprise of the boss, the small voice whispered, “No.”
Wanting to talk with an adult, the boss asked, “Is your Mummy there?”
“Yes” came the answer. “May I talk with her?” Again the small voice whispered, “No”
Knowing that it was not likely a young child would be left home alone, the boss decided he would just leave a message with the person should be there over the child.
“Is there any one there besides you?”, the boss asked the child.
“Yes,” whispered the child, “a policeman”.
Wondering what a cop would be doing at his employee’s home, the boss asked, “May I speak with the policeman?”
“No, he’s busy,” whispered the child. “Busy doing what?” asked the boss.
“Talking to Daddy and Mommy and the Fireman,” came the whispered answer.
Growing concerned and even worried as he heard what sounded like a helicopter through the ear piece on the phone, the boss asked: “What is that noise?”
“A hello-copper” answered the whispering voice.
“What is going on there?” asked the boss, now alarmed.
In an awed whispering voice the child answered : “The search team just landed the hello-copper.
Alarmed, concerned, and more than just a little frustrated, “What are they searching for?”
Still whispering, the young voice replied with a muffled giggle: “ME!”
Walking Group on again!
9am meeting at the Pavilion. Social coffee at the cafe post walk
Reminder!
Our profile is now back up on the CDS app. This is one of the easiest ways to earn money for our projects. Every meeting there will be a red bucket next to the fellowship board which you can put your containers in, or deposit them yourselves! If you want to learn how to set the app up, or would like a laminated barcode for easier use, please ask!
How much do you think this large bundle came to?

congratulations to Rotary Warrnambool Central and their successful collection during the may races. They have now collected more than $14,000 in containers!

Reports for the Changeover Annual Report
Rotarians I have been tasked with getting reports together for our Changeover annual
report. The Changeover being 24 June.
The following is a list of office bearer’s, service areas, activities and the people who
“champion” them.
There may be others that I have missed. If so please let me know.
If you are an office bearer, or “responsible” for a project, fund raiser or activity can you
provide an overview suitable to be included in the annual report please.
To facilitate the compilation of the report easier and for consistency of appearance
please use the Arial Font at font size 11 point and do not include any complex formatting.
Where appropriate please provide one or a small number of images in .jpg format.
These will greatly enhance the appearance of your report.
To have the report ready for the Changeover I need everything finalised, at the latest, 6
June (approximately 2 weeks prior). I will also send reminders prior to that.
