President Peter's Message
At our meeting on Tuesday the 27th July, we welcomed guests; Andy Finlay (co-guest speaker), Barbara Johnson, Annie and Brian Raymond, Anne Hunt, Ann Body, Sarah Wallace, Mary Bowman and our exchange student Maria
Mary Bowman was introduced and inducted into our Rotary Club by Tony Austin.  Mary has been a past member of Daybreak Rotary and now wishes to join us at Warrnambool Rotary.  She is looking forward to volunteering with the club ie. Port Fairy Festival.  Peter welcomed Mary stating she will be a great ambassador for the club
Sarah Wallis was also introduced and inducted into our Rotary club.  Sarah has a wealth of knowledge relating to pregnancy and loss.  She will provide a wealth of knowledge and support in the Early Loss committee.
Our guest speakers, Glenn Brotchie and Andy Finly were introduced by President Peter.  They have both recently returned for the Coast to Coast walk in England. Glenn reported his inspiration came from a Man who lost both legs in a rock fall who went on to climb Mt. Killimanjaro as well as Cradle mountain.  "Anything is possible if you just push yourself" Andy and Glenn reported it was tough going in parts, climbing  up 10,000 feet only to descend the same.
Highlight were the pubs at the end of the day, the scenery, seeing things first hand at ground level and the friendly people.  Glen and Andy encouraged us all to get out and explore the world.
Glenn has already booked his next trek through Italy on the Camino Trail which is 400km.

Member Announcements:
Brooke asked members to make themselves available for the Science and Engineering Challenge on the 11th & 12th August.  The event needs 32 volunteers per day so please as family and friends. All volunteers must have a current working with Children card.

Deb informed us the current venue where we hold our book sales is no longer available to us as it has been leased out.  We need to vacate the building within the next month.  We have over 20,00 books still stored on site which we need to move.  It is planned that we hold a number of book sales at reduced prices to reduce our stock.  The first sale is proposed for this coming week from Thursday through to Sunday.  Minimal volunteers are required.  Advertising through media will be extended to papers and Fitzmedia.

Ken reported people, who attended First Aide training could pay him this evening also any outstanding Fees which are due.

THE CENTURIAN CLUB
Rotarians; since I joined Rotary and 8 years ago, I have some to recognize the importance our Centurian Club in assisting in the most worthwhile projects funded by Rotary International.
This means giving at least $100 each year to the Rotary Foundation will ensure that 100% of the money is passed onto the many Rotary Foundation projects around our world.
Over the coming year I will endeavor to provide reliable information from the RI Foundation Web page with a view to encourage our club and club members to look at maintaining and/or improving our yearly contributions to the Foundation.

I have included the link to the web address should anyone wish to do their own research

Wisecrack of the week
From John Beks

The Definition of "OLD" (Part 1)
#1    I very quietly confided to my best friend that I was having an affair.
She turned to me and asked: "Are you having it catered?"
And that, my friend, is the sad definition of "OLD"!

#2   Just before the funeral service, the undertaker came up to the very elderly
widow and asked, "How old was your husband?'
"98", she replied: "Two years older than me."
"So  you're 96," the undertaker commented.
She responded, "Hardly worth going home, is it?"

    #3     Reporters interviewing a 104-year-old woman:
"And what do you think is the best thing about 104?"  The reporter asked.
She simply replied, "No peer pressure"

#4     I feel like my body has gotten totally our of shape, so I got my doctor's
permission to join a fitness club and start exercising,  I decided to take an
aerobics class for seniors.  I bent, twisted gyrated, jumped up and down
and perspired for an hour.  But, by the time I got my leotards on, the class
              was over.

The Farmers Pantry;  a huge thank you to those people who have donated to this worthy cause thus far.  We will be collecting breakfast spreads and toiletries throughout July and August.
Donated items can be brought along to on Tuesday nights.
Thanks Svet.
Volunteers needed for the Science and Engineering Challenge!

Registration to volunteer for the Science and Engineering Challenge is now open, and we need as many volunteers as we can get! This year we have expanded the program to try out a primary day. Currently we have a full program on the Monday 11th Aug and a 90% full program on the Tuesday 12th Aug (this means up to 250 students per day!). Anyone can be a volunteer as long as they have a working with children check.

Being a volunteer for this program is much easier than it sounds. You will be in a team of 2-4 people and run 1 activity. All information and training about that 1 activity will be provided before the date, and there is even a training day. It's really not too hard, I promise! Plus, you get free lunch, tea and coffee. It's lots of fun! Over 130 Rotary groups from across the country participate.

All information about the days AND registration to volunteer can be found in the same link here:

Please contact Brooke if you have questions
Walking Group on again!
9am meeting at the Pavilion. Social coffee at the cafe post walk.
You can always post in the whatsapp chat to see if anyone is going that morning, or to get a lift!
