Anne's Message 

Thank you to Duncan Stalker for organising our Remembrance Day meeting at the RSL and to Ken Cumming our guest speaker who spoke of his experiences in Vietnam. His slides highlighted the plight of the people in Vietnam and how young many of the men we sent to this war were. We should never forget.

We received apologies from Rachel Furnell, Sharon Kenny, Ian Cairns, Leon De Villiers, and
Svetlana Lineham.


We are all still recovering from the garden show. The profit is still growing and will be well over $10,000 I have emailed everyone involved seeking feed back on how we can improve. I have also asked for feedback from visitors who are in my email address book for feedback
as well. This information should help inform a debrief to be held at a future meeting.

Next week we will have a celebration and thank you for a great day. It will be a good night to bring a visitor
Guest speaker will be District Governor Elect Ian McKay.

It is time to celebrate!

In celebration of everyone's efforts last weekend, our meeting on Tuesday night will be to acknowledge all parties involved, including our garden owners.

Milk Bottle Caps
Letting all members know we are collecting milk bottle tops (Please wash them thoroughly) and bread bag tags. Bring them along too Rotary and Judy can take them. 
The 5c Jar
is now known as The Loose Change Jar.  We will continue collecting money for the END POLIO NOW project. We are THIS CLOSE.    
 
Brooke Jensen
Brooke will be running a 'paint and sip' lesson for anyone interested in learning some basic of the face painting. 
451 Raglan, BYO drink, 25th Nov at 6pm. Dinner can be arranged. Come and have a go!
 
Ann Donaldson
Ann will be collecting items for food bank at the meeting next week. Ann will also take cash donations to get more items.
Food Bank is in need of the following items:
- Dried Pasta
- Canned Tomatoes
- Chunky Soup
- Small tins of Tuna
- Packet Soup

Lake Pertobe Casuarina Grove R100 Planting
The combined club's R100 project, the planting of a casuarina grove at Lake Pertobe will be taking place between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday 30th November.  If you are available, and can help out, please Glen Rundell at Daybreak know  (g.rundell@hotmail.com)
There will be 21 semi-mature sheoaks about 1.5m tall to plant, plus some other small plantings and possibly some mulching, with a BBQ provided afterward.

Thank you to Ken Cumming for telling us his story on Tuesday. It is so important the retelling of stories for our future generations to understand. It is wonderful to see Ken finding the young boy 'Rabbit' and continuing the friendship to this day.

What a day!
 
After a huge build up, the Garden Show finally came. In a combination of perfect weather, great advertising, and a collective effort; we have had a very successful day. It was great seeing so many people come through the gardens at all locations. Many faces came and said hello, including previous member Gerry!
 
I'm sure many of us are only finally recovered from the day. If you have any feedback about the day (what worked really well, what could be improved, etc), please email Anne Adams.
