President Peter's Message
On Tuesday 12th August, Svet welcomed all to the meeting. Following the Invocation from Robbie, President Peter took the floor welcoming along visitors Nathan and Chris from the Science and Engineering program and our exchange student Maria and her host and Friend of Rotary, Ann Body.
He thanked everyone for the busy week our club had endured with tree planting, weekend book sales and the annual Science and Engineering Challenge which had run over two days this year.
Peter also reported he had met with the presidents from other Warrnambool clubs where they discussed Clubs meeting together for social interactions.  Peter also encouraged everyone to support fellow Rotarian, Sarah by attending the documentary showing at the Capital Cinema on Wednesday 20th August.
Chris from the Science challenge team, talked to us about the history of the challenge which has run in Warrnambool since 2013. Kings College who were the winners will compete in the State final in Ballarat in September.  The grand final will be held in November at the Newcastle University.
Rotarian Sharon introduced our speak Kelly Marsden from Let's Talk.
Kelly hopes to educate people about the importance of care for your mental health and that of those around you. Statistics show that 9 people suicide everyday in Australia.  Ripples reach further into the community when such an event occurs.  Kelly encouraged people to learn about mental health first-aid.  Self care is vital to allow you to care for others.  More information can be found on next weeks bulletin

Member Announcements:
Brooke reported that the Science and Engineering Challenge ran smoothly and thanked the volunteers who assisted on each day.  The final winner of the challenge was Kings College who will go onto the next level to be held in Ballarat.  St. Joseph's (B) won the primary school day.
 
Deb informed us that we made almost  $2,000 on the weekend and moved more than 2,000 books.  We now need to pack the remaining books which need to be moved from the current site.  Days and times this will occur will be announced
 
Ken once again asked for interest in attending South West Health Care Service facility in the coming weeks.  Please notify Ken if you are interested.

THE CENTURIAN CLUB
Rotarians; since I joined Rotary and 8 years ago, I have some to recognize the importance our Centurian Club in assisting in the most worthwhile projects funded by Rotary International. 
This means giving at least $100 each year to the Rotary Foundation will ensure that 100% of the money is passed onto the many Rotary Foundation projects around our world.
Over the coming year I will endeavor to provide reliable information from the RI Foundation Web page with a view to encourage our club and club members to look at maintaining and/or improving our yearly contributions to the Foundation.

The Definition of "OLD" (Part 2)
 
      #5     I've sure gotten old!  I have outlived my feet and my teeth.
              I've had two bypass surgeries, a hip replacement, new knees, fought
              prostate cancer and diabetes, I'm half blind,    
                 can't hear anything quieter than a jet engine,
              take 40 different medications that make me dizzy, winded and subject
              to blackouts.  Have bouts or dementia.
              Have poor circulation, hardly feel my hands and feet anymore.
              Can't remember if I'm 85 or 92. Have lost all my friends,
              but thank God, I still have my driver's licence.
 
     #6     An elderly woman decided to prepare her will, and told her preacher she 
              two final requests.
              First, she wanted to be cremated, and second, she wanted her ashes 
              scattered over Woolworth's.
              "Woolworth's?" the preacher exclaimed. "Why Woolworth'?"
              "The I'll be sure my daughters will visit me twice a week."
                 
     #7     My memory's not as sharp as ir used to be.
             Also , my memory's not as sharp as it used to be
 
     #8     Know how to prevent sagging? Just eat till all the wrinkles fill out.

Her Name is Celeste is a documentary created by Tim and Michelle.  This moving doco shares the heartbreaking story of their daughter Celeste's stillbirth and Michelle's mission to run 1,000km for the Stillbirth Foundation Australia.
