The meeting commenced with a big thankyou to all members who worked at the Rodeo and Tony Austin who also worked but organised the event. We had Leon, George, Tony, Kelly, me, Peter, Ann D Anne A, Chris, Terry, Sharon, Greg, Rach, Trevor W, Glen, Andrew which is nearly half the Club – congratulations a great effort. It did seem easier with the Humanatix program although we had
problems with the equipment provided. Thankyou to all members who used their own phones and George who supplied charging banks.
Welcome to visitors and guest speakers Nick Yandell and Sarah MacMahon. Apologies from Ann and Andrew Body, David Brown, Svet Lineham, George and Brooke and Lola Lee.
A reminder to check out my email on the new role of the DG. Also, members voted on a decision to limit the amount for Kris Kringle to $20 maximum. Kelly has kindly agreed to organise Kris Kringle and she will send around an email letting members know who they have picked. If you don’t want to participate just let Kelly know. The Club Runner has been updated to include details on currency of Working With Children’s Check, RSA, First Aide and a few other things. Janet will send out what is needed to update our details. in the next month.
Rachel let us know that calls for RYLA nominations are open and reminded all members that District Conference is on next March 15-17 in Mount Gambier, and everyone is encouraged to go. Transport will be available for any who need a ride. I hope members come along and enjoy some club time away.
Ann Donaldson is collecting money for gift voucher for kids Santa Sack items. The voucher is for $30 and is for multiple vendors in the Southwest.
Nick and Sarah spoke to us about their adventures in Timor Leste and the challenges facing communities there. They had some really interesting slides and spoke of activities they had undertaken to make the communities better. Both are interested in sponsoring a child/young adult to come and receive an education in Warrnambool as it is apparent over there that people with
educations do far better than those without and teaching resources are scant in Timor Leste. We wish them well and invited them to come and talk some more with us about how we might be able to help.
Next weeks meeting with Anne Adams as chair and George as Sargent with Cathy and Kelly on Fellowship and Ann Body on Invocation. The 19th is the Christmas Party and is a partner’s night.
Have a great week!
“You may not always have a comfortable life and you will not always be able to solve all of the world’s problems at once but don’t ever underestimate the importance you can have, because history has shown us that courage can be contagious, and hope can take on a life of its own.” —
