The announcement of new arrivals, grandchildren for Graeme Ward and myself, was a positive way to commence the meeting. It seems like a few members of the club have left for sunnier climates with Leon in NSW just south of Coffs Harbour focusing on his golf scores, Greg Lee in Ireland, Brian Trenery in Queensland, Tony Austin who is working hard in PNG but getting looked after extremely well and I too have been in Queensland visiting my much loved grandchildren.
At the meeting Barbara Johnson’s was recognised as a welcomed regular guest along with Mick White and Amanda Henessy from Foodshare. Apologies from Peter Schmid, Brian Trenery, Leon De Villiers and Greg Lee.
A huge congratulations to Brooke for a very successful Science and Engineering Challenge, she has done a fantastic job of organisation to get the day to run successfully and without incident. As Judy Ross highlighted, we have been participating in this program for years now and it continues to be an activity where students experience aspects of science and engineering which they would not usually see in their school environment. Along with Brooke members of our club and others gave their time
and organisational skills to assist in the delivery of the challenge so a big thanks to Anne Donaldson, Rachel Furnell, George McLeod, Judy Ross, Philip Ross, Chris Stebbing, Glenn Brotchie, Peter Smid, Janey Preston, Ann Barker, Liz Bligh, Harry Bracegirdle, Maggie Dwyer, Ian Harper, Peter Newell and Matt Porter.
We are still on the lookout for a variation of meeting venue so let me know any ideas. Kelly and I are visiting the Timor St Bowls Club early next week. This is where Rotary Warrnambool Central holds their meetings.
Anne Adams already has 3 gardens for the Garden Expo on the November 5th this year. We will be looking for people to man the gates for this event.

A reminder of Father of The Year Breakfast on Wednesday 30th August for a morning Breakfast meeting starting 7.00am finishing 8.30am at City Memorial’s Carmichael Room. Cost is $20. I hope all members can attend and if anyone needs a ride give me a bell.
Chris Stebbing, Brooke Jensen and I attended the Wannon Water office for the presentation of the Ripple Effect Grants. Chris was presented with funding through Road Safety Education for the RYDA road safety education for high-risk young Warrnambool drivers and Brooke through our Club for support for student participation in the nation-wide Science and Engineering Challenge.
An excellent presentation for the meeting was provided by Amanda Hennessy from FoodShare. She outlined the organisational structure and function of FoodShare, and it is amazing to think of the quantity of food that comes through their doors annually. I learned a lot form this presentation that I can take back to my work to support not just our clients but their friends and family who often present with food insecurity. Thankyou Amanda your talk was presented in such an easy to listen to and understand manner and has provided us with very practical knowledge that we can easily pass on.
