Tuesday night we welcomed Peter Headen as our guest speaker. Peter gave us an insight to his working career and personal life. We then presented Peter with a Pride of Workmanship Award, this award is an approved Rotary project instigated in 1975 and is designed to acknowledge an employee or business operator, irrespective of age or vocation who, in the eyes of his or her employer or customers, displays outstanding qualities in terms of approach, attitude, dedication and commitment to his or her employment. Peter is so well deserved of this award and has been
involved in so many community groups. Peter was chairman for Peter’s Project appeal from 2013 -2016, raised $5 million dollars for the Cancer Centre in Warrnambool. Peter was citizen on the year in 2013, Southwest Rescue Helicopter 2008. Chairman for Gillin Boys Foundation 2020-2023 Muscular Dystrophy Awareness. Peter had also been in so many more community projects. Peter’s
support that he has given our club has been outstanding and we appreciate everything he has done and all the support he has given us.
Last Saturday morning some Rotarians went tree planting to revegetate the old Bromfield Street weir. It was a fantastic turn out and it was great to see everyone getting involved and followed by a barbecue. Thank you to everyone who helped out on the day. Well done to Graeme Ward for all the hard work you put in. I know l had a great day.
Member announcements:
- Graeme Ward spoke about the blister packs and have received funding from the Warrnambool City Council which is wonderful to hear. You can give any empty blister packs to Robbie Blackmore or selected chemists in Warrnambool.
- Anne Adams gave us an update on the Open Garden Expo and has 4 gardens and is looking for a 5 th garden. If you know someone who might be interested in being part of the garden expo, please reach out to Anne.
- Rachel gave us an update on the Camp Quality Cabin and the working bee that was on this weekend has been cancelled. Hammonds Paints are going to help out and paint the cabin for us. Thank you, Hammonds Paints,
- Ann Body asked if anyone is interested in seeing Mary Poppins and a few people are interested. We will wait to hear a further update from Ann.

Empty Medicine Blister Packets
Robbie will be collecting empty medicine packets to be recycled. You can also drop them off at one of the participating Pharmacies as a part of our environmental project (Ask Graham about locations).

Ann will happily take your plastic bottle tops. Please make sure they are washed and dried before you give them to her. They are sent to the lids for kids program in Mt Gambier.

RYLA 2025
will take place in the April 2025 school holidays. We are seeking participants to attend aged between 18-25 at the time of the camp. Applications will open around October. If you have anyone in mind, please contact Rachel.
Camp Quality Cabin
There is a lot of maintenance that needs to happen at the cabin in the next 12 months. If you would like to assist on this hands on project and join a small camp quality committee, please contact Rachel.

A smile costs nothing, but gives so much:

A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters goodwill in business and is the countersign of friendship.

Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed or stolen, for it is something of no value to anyone until it is given away.
Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours
as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.
