President's Message

Tuesday night Peter Smid organised a planning night in preparation for his incoming year. Peter put his hand up to take on President and will be a great leader for our club. Peter has been busy attending PETS training and come away very enthused with lots of ideas. We are all looking forward to Peter leading our club. Thank you for all the work you are putting in.

RAWC’S is stepping up to support communities in the Western District devasted by severe draught and if you would like to make a personal donation please reach out to Brooke or myself and we will show you how to donate to this cause. The information and link to the RAWCs fundraising page is below in the bulletin. So many of our farmers are struggling financially and emotionally and if you know of a farmer who is struggling please let us know as we want to help. Unfortunately, it’s not just the farmers, businesses have been affected as well, and many shops are closing. Please shop local, eat local, spend local. We need to support our community through
this difficult time.

We have our final board meeting of the Rotary year and if all incoming board members can attend that would be great.

Wisecrack of the week
From John Beks

Through the Ages...

Do you realise that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we were kids?
If you're less then ten years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions,
'How old are you' 'I'm four and a half'
You're never 36 and a half, You're four and a half going on 5!
You get into your teens: now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number: "How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16"
You could be twelve, but you're gonna be 16, eventually!
Then the great day of your life: you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony. You BECOME 21.... YES!!!
But then you turn 30. What happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk. He/She TURNED: we had to throw him/her out. What's wrong? What changed?
You BECOME 21; You TURN 30; You're PUSHING 40; You REACH 50;
Then you MAKE it to 60.
But then you've built up so much speed, you HIT 70.
After that, it's a day by day thing. You HIT Wednesday...
You GET into your 80s: You HIT lunch, you HIT 4:30pm.
Mt Grandmother won't even buy green bananas.
"Well, it's an investment, you know, and maybe a bad one"
And it doesn't end there... Into the 90s, you start going backwards:
"I was JUST 92"
Then a strange thing happens: if you MAKE IT over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half"

HAPPY AGING!
Congratulations to Rotary Club of Warrnambool Central who over the few days at the May Racing Carnival helped to recycle just shy of 50,000 containers within the Container Deposit Scheme. These items would have gone to landfill as the racing club doesn't have facilities to recycle. This has earnt the club just shy of $5000 for their projects!

Reports for the Changeover Annual Report
Rotarians I have been tasked with getting reports together for our Changeover annual
report. The Changeover being 24 June.
The following is a list of office bearer’s, service areas, activities and the people who
“champion” them.
There may be others that I have missed. If so please let me know.
If you are an office bearer, or “responsible” for a project, fund raiser or activity can you
provide an overview suitable to be included in the annual report please.
To facilitate the compilation of the report easier and for consistency of appearance
please use the Arial Font at font size 11 point and do not include any complex formatting.
Where appropriate please provide one or a small number of images in .jpg format.
These will greatly enhance the appearance of your report.
To have the report ready for the Changeover I need everything finalised, at the latest, 6
June (approximately 2 weeks prior). I will also send reminders prior to that.
