President Peter's Message
 
A few of us from WRC attended both the WRC East & WRC Daybreak Change-overs.
 
This year East have distributed over $80k to local & global causes! Daybreak had their main beneficiaries attend the Change-over & each one gave a short talk on their activities.
 
Ben Polhner from Volcanic Produce, Tower Hill was our guest speaker. Ben has a background in horticulture and aquaculture. He and his wife moved to this district from Cairns. Ben’s passion is producing organically and chemical free quality produce. 70 varieties of fruits and vegetables and vegetables are grown. His farm has expanded to be now 14 hectares. He produces between 10 and 15 tonne of vegetables per week.He employs between 10 to 20 staff and one celebrity sheep, Wally. A shipping container full of produce is sent to Melbourne up to 3 times per week. Produce is also sold at local markets and IGA. Best tasting strawberries in the SW.
