We had a lovely social evening at our progressive dinner.

Thank you to Svetlana for organising it all and to the members who made their homes available, especially Keith who had is all at his place for coffee and dessert.

We all send our best wishes to the Year 10 science students at King's College who are off to the National Finals for the Science and Engineering Challenge.

We hope by now Janet and Trevor Blackley are out of the flood and that the mess is manageable.

Tony is busy putting together the roster for the Show Gates. We are looking for some more helpers.

Garden Show plans are progressing, Glen has collected items for a raffle. We have over $1000 in prizes.

Brooke has taken photos to upgrade our publicity and 3YB, The Standard and the Local ABC are all interested in doing items for us. Tony has put it on some Facebook sites he uses and their has been a lot of interest.

We will need helpers to set up on Saturday 5th and gate keepers, raffle sellers and food handlers.

Next week is a special night for Polio Plus and out Foundation Director will be the speaker.

Letting all members know we are collecting milk bottle tops (Please wash them thoroughly) and bread bag tags. Bring them along too Rotary and Judy can take them.

The 5c Jar

is now known as The Loose Change Jar. We will continue collecting money for the END POLIO NOW project. We are THIS CLOSE.

Science and Engineering Challenge National Finals!

30 year 9 and 10 students ventured to Bendigo on Thursday for the National Finals for the Science and Engineering Challenge. Overall they came 7th out of 8 teams, but gave it a brilliant go. The score break down was as follows:

1. Emmaus Christian School - Canberra: 1383

2. Launceston Christian School: 1355

3. Pembroke School (Adelaide) : 1276

4. Margaret River Senior High School (WA): 1166

5. OLSH Catholic College, Alice Springs: 1127

6. Bendigo South East College: 1091

7. King's College: 917

8. Holy Trinity Lutheran College (Horsham): 732

Half of the activities the students' completed we saw here at the Warrnambool event, but the other half were new to the students. All activities had new challenges about them, like less amount of consumables. All activities were drawn at random at the start of the day for a even playing field, this meant that no school could pre plan their activities for a head start.

The Rotary Club of South Bendigo did an amazing job planning this event in conjunction with Bendigo South East school. Rod Smitty who is the regional chair for the planning committee, looked cool calm and collected the whole time. It has been confirmed that the nationals next year will be held in Sydney.

The students have written thank you notes for the club, and were very thankful to all sponsors involved.

Santa Sacks Project

Thank you to all Rotarians for supporting the Santa Sacks project, especially to Ann who bought a great variety of items for the children.

We were able to donate over $500 worth of items.
It was good to see how this organisation supports children in our area.
The Santa Sacks will go to children who are in Portland (protection services), Hamilton (protection services), Warrnambool ( protection services, brophy & emma house)
The container they store all their goods in is donated by Reg Owen, which they are very grateful for.

Progressive Dinner

Thank you to everyone who participated in the progressive dinner. There was wonderful food, and wonderful chats.
