Garden Show Report to Rotary Meeting Nov 15
-Anne Adams
The main purpose of this meeting tonight is to say thank you to the amazing people who allowed us the use of their gardens for our garden show and for our friends and partners who gave us their energy, their enthusiasm for the project and their time to make it all happen. Thank you to Anne and John Hunt, Margie and Gerry Byron, John Sherwood, Kay and Phil Furnari, and Mary and David McLeod. The extra things you did, added so much to the day. Anne's plant stall, John's signs around his garden and, the access the McLeod's gave to their facilities
Can I share some feed back form the gate keepers:
- I was so well looked after I put on a kilo on the day
- Duncan had an excellent day
- One gate keeper said his gardeners are the loveliest people.
- The gate keepers at Kay and Phil's garden said they could have stayed forever with people just going past, being nice to them
We are a smallish Club these days and we would not be able to achieve what we do without the help of our friends and family. Thank you to Joan Austin, Marion Brotchie, Jenny Trenery, Jenny Lewis and Philip Ross. This is of course not the first time you have helped us and I hope you know without a doubt you are appreciated.
Isobel Siebel and Bruce Cairns are unable to be with us tonight. Isobel is a past member of our club and still a great supporter. Her mosaics added some glamour to our plant stalls and raised $150 for Rotary.
I want to thank Philomena and Peter Headon and I am very sorry they also. have another commitment. Philomena was enthusiastic about this project right from the first meeting. She helped with her contacts and her ideas, she worked on the plant stall all day and she arrived with her ute to take away the unsold plants at the end of the day.
It certainly took the pressure of us when Peter knocked on my door with sponsorship from 3YB FM and then on another day with the first prize for the raffle. Peter also helped as a gatekeeper and on the coffee making at the afternoon tea.
Thank you to club members and Bunnings, Geo Taylors, Pontings, 3YB FM and Philomena and Peter for donations to our raffle.
The winners were:
1st prize Como voucher. — Janine Jones
2nd prize— Gardening equipment. Maureen Kenna
3rd prize— Gardening equipment. Helen Schack.
4th prize— package of books and wine. Heather Walcott
In conclusion, thank you, the members of this Rotary Club of Warrnambool for your help on the day, with the set-up arrangements, with the tidy up at the end, for supplying plants for our plant stall and the terrific publicity. Brooke that drone is fantastic.
We have raised $13000 on our first effort, the coverage we received has raised the profile of our Club in the district, we caught up with some old friends and most importantly we gave many people a lot of pleasure.
If you have any feedback about the day (what worked really well, what could be improved, etc), please email Anne Adams.
