It was lovely to hear from Rachel and Katherine in regards to RYLA 2023. The Rotary Youth Leadership Awards 2023 were located in Kangaroobie near Princetown, on the 16th-21st April. It was great to hear that Katherine leaned valuable skills during the program, even if she did get a little muddy at times. We hope Katherine can be an inspiration to other youths from Warrnambool in attending the program for future years.
It was a pleasure to welcome Margaret's family again for Katherine's presentation. President Anne was away with Svet filling in for the role.
As we approach the mid-year marker, there are plenty of things underway. Check the announcements for the 'happenings' of the club, plenty of events to volunteer for. A reminder about the board meeting next week which will include outgoing and incoming members.
Have an amazing long weekend, we might even get some sunshine! Make sure to tell everyone about the book sale on Saturday, and if you have some spare time to lend help Tony and Anne on the day, please do.
Anne will be collecting Food share donations until the meeting of the 27th June. You can donate food items or cash directly to Anne at a meeting. Anne will let us know next meeting if there are specific items they are in need of.

Book Sale Saturday 10th We need some helpers from 8.30 am Saturday morning to tidy up the books a little bit, set up the cashiers table, greet visitors from 11.00am, and sell raffle tickets. A couple of card tables would be handy if someone can bring along. We finish at 4.00pm unless the crowd has left. We will organise a working bee to clean up after the sale is over and we know what we must deal with.
Hospice Media Event We are having a media event in conjunction with Warrnambool and District Community Hospice on Thursday 15th June at 11.00 am at The Hospice office at Deakin. Hospice have organised for Fitzmedia and the Standard to be there. It would be good if plenty of Rotarians could attend and be part of the show.
Board Meeting Next Week Our monthly board meeting is next week. This will be a combined meeting with next years board. Please let Chris know if you have any agenda items

Tree planting at Deakin University, Saturday 17th June 10 am – 12.30 pm as part of the Glenelg Hopkins CMA-Warrnambool Coastcare Landcare Network’s “Hopkins River tree’s for fish” planting day. Meet at the old golf course car park at Deakin, BYO wet weather gear, sturdy footware, gloves and water. Our Rotary Club has been invited by the Glenelg Hopkins CMA to be part of the larger “Rivers of Warrnambool” program. The CMA is keen for the Rotary Club to develop and have its own small project as part of the larger program.

An Update from Interplast
Dear Rotary Club of Warrambool,
I want to say a heartfelt thanks for your generous support to the families you are helping in the Asia Pacific region. Your generosity has already had an incredible life-changing impact on the lives of children and adults this year who have received long-awaited surgeries. Your gifts are being put to use right now as one of our volunteer surgical teams prepares to set off to Bhutan.
We truly could not achieve any of it without your help.
I wanted to share with you how your support has helped change the life of a young child named Moceiwai and his family. Moceiwai was born with a cleft lip and palate, which had a significant impact on his ability to feed and thrive. Moceiwai's mother, Loata, was heartbroken by her baby's condition and struggled to find the treatment they desperately needed. It was taking a toll on their entire family. Thanks to committed supporters like you, on our program to Fiji in November, our volunteer surgical team was able to perform surgery on Moceiwai. When Interplast's team came to Labasa Hospital, Moceiwai and his family were given hope for the first time. Interplast's surgeon, Dr Anand Ramakrishnan, partnered with the Labasa Hospital surgical team led by Dr Scott Buadromo to perform Moceiwai's life-changing surgery. The procedure took approximately four hours and was a success. I can only imagine the relief and joy that Moceiwai's family felt when they saw their precious baby after the surgery, and it was all because of your support.
In many countries in the Asia Pacific region, access to specialist care is limited, and conditions like Moceiwai's are often left untreated. But thanks to you, we can mobilise a specialist surgical and healthcare team so they can get the life-changing surgery they need. Moceiwai's journey is not over yet, and the next step is his cleft palate operation. Without this surgery, he will continue to face challenges with speech, eating, and overall health. However, with your support, we can ensure that Moceiwai gets the care and treatment he needs to thrive. It's only with your support that we can continue to change lives like Moceiwai's. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and kindness.

Wannon Water Regional Advisory Forum 2023 - 2027
I’m reaching out, as you and/or your organisation have been involved in our community engagement and/or Ripple Effect program in the past few years. We’re starting a new planning cycle and will be setting up a new advisory group. We’d really appreciate you considering applying and/or help in sharing this across your networks in our region.
We’re seeking volunteer nominations for the Regional Advisory Forum 2023 – 2027. The group aims to reflect the experience of our communities – our customers, organisations, industries and local groups, meeting just twice per year to support with:
· Sharing emerging local and regional issues
· Providing insight into a range of diverse experiences across our community
· Helping to identify what areas we should focus our engagement on
· Developing a deeper understanding of insights from our customers and stakeholders
· Reviewing our annual corporate plans and draft price submission for the new pricing period in 2027.
