Weekly Message

President Janet wasn’t available to chair our meeting this week so the club had to put up with me again.
Apologies were received from President Janet, David Brown, Ian Sharman and Santa.
Our guests included Phillip Ross, Elissa & Arielle Ross, Jenny Trenery and Kerry Nelson.
Member’s announcements included:
• Judy: asked that anyone who used our “gear” put it back where it belongs.
• Anne: asked for volunteers to move books and set up tables before the book sale January 26-28.

Unfortunately Santa was an apology for the evening and the best we could do was to get me as a poor substitute. Fortunately Kelly stepped in as an “elf” and under her guidance things worked out well. It got a bit hectic trying to get the gifts distributed so “elf” Alan stepped in to help.

The evening was a lot of fun and finished pretty well on time. As usual several of us stayed on for some time enjoying fellowship in the bar (for a long time!).

A big thank you to Kelly who organised the Kris Kringle, me and the follow up fun activity.

Well that’s 2023 almost over. Janet and I hope it was a good year and that 2024 is even better.

ps. We need help to move the books from storage and set up the tables at the Warrnambool Club.
The dates/times for the “working bees” are 10:00am Saturday 6 and Friday 12 January.
Additional Dates/times will be advised if necessary. Please let Anne when you can help.

An Islamic Prayer for Peace
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful: Praise be to the Lord of the Universe, who has created us and made us into tribes and nations, that we may to know each other, not that we may despise eachother. If the enemy incline towards peace, do thou also incline towards peace, and trust in God, for the Lord is one that hears and knows all things. And the servants of God Most Gracious are those who walk on this Earth in humility, and when we address them, we say "PEACE"

A Jewish Prayer for Peace
Come, let us go to the mountain of the Lord, that we may walk the paths of the Most High. And we shall beat our swords into ploughshares and our spears into pruning hooks. Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. And none shall be afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of Hosts has spoken.

A Christian Prayer for Peace
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be the children of God. But I say to you that hear, love your enemies
: do good to those who hate you; bless those who curse you; pray for those who abuse you. To those who strike you on the cheek, offer the other also; and from those who take away your cloak, do not withhold your coat as well. Give to everyone who begs from you, and those who take away your goods, do not ask them again.

AND AS YOU WISH THAT OTHERS DO TO YOU, DO SO TO THEM!
