Weekly Bulletin (Mar. 11, 2024)

Only a short report this week but a big meeting. We were privileged to welcome the Rotary Club of Frankston at our meeting on the 5/3/2024 with their President David Cross. Annually the Club goes away for a week’s holiday – sounds like a clever idea.

We also welcomed members partners and Friends of Rotary Jenny Trenery and Phillip Ross.

Robbie) and Trevor Williams, Ann and Andrew Body and Svet. It was good to see Keith McLeod back. A thankyou to George for being Sargeant for the night.

Chris Stebbing thanked all who participated in the Bicycle Network Super Count. I did the count and was seen sitting near the Freckled Duck at 7am with nothing to count for an hour. Not being a morning person, it was a challenge and if Trevor had not reassured me that it would be light by seven am I would not have got there.

President David Cross from Frankston lead a question-and-answer segment where both clubs learned more about each other’s date of Charter, length of existence, projects undertaken and fundraising efforts. Frankston is a continually active club with lots of members. They reportedly have lots of fun and fellowship, do some interesting projects and really good website https://www.rotaryfrankston.org.au/ They have a club shirt.

The Warrnambool Bowls Club really helped on the evening with changing our room and adding more staff. It all ran very smoothly for the night with such a large group set the scene for us to undertake our main task of the night - the assembling of the Birthing Kits for PNG.

Frankston and Warrnambool Rotarians under the supervising guidance of Jenny and Brian Trenery, Judy Ross, Rachel Furnell, Anne Adams and Chris Stebbing (I may have forgotten one!) and the Lolly Loader Alan Bowes and watchful Quality Controllers who will remain anonymous but together we assembled165 complete Birthing Kits and another fifteen slightly incomplete kits in around 1 hour. What an amazing job. I would have to say the commitment and perseverance of all was much appreciated and the result will make a difference to many women and hopefully the outcomes for babies in PNG will improve.

It was a fun night and so good to be able to share it with another Club.
