We welcomed guests Elio (Margaret’s grandson), Maria and Mary to our meeting. The member survey carried out a few weeks ago disclosed that there was a feeling that the Club has enough projects on hand and we don’t need more big ones. Also, more Rotary content and more social events. There was a general desire by new members to do the Rotary Leadership course.
Member Announcements:
- Graeme informed the meeting that there will be tree planting at Bromfield Street weir site on the 9th August (a spot where Judy used to catch trout). Graeme is stepping down from the Environmental role and members thanked him for his long service and achievements in that role.
- Svet has been in contact with the 6C’s couple who have organised to have Community Cupboards installed at local CFA stations. They stock those cupboards with provisions for local farmers. They would welcome help in supply of provisions ( particularly items like vegemite, peanut butter, etc and toiletries) delivery & installing new cupboards. A very worthwhile activity that we can easily assist.
- Anne Adams gave an update on Garden Show. She has 3 gardens but would like another 2. It’s planned for Sunday 2nd November.
As the meeting was a Planning meeting Directors spoke about their projects and programs and the key personnel involved and invited members to get involved.

This Age....
This is the age I had not cared to reach...
This outer edge of youth _ when, here and there
A strange new silver thread slips in the hair
And careless days grown furth back with each additional birthday.
These have been the years I dreaded secretly,
and suddenly find it is a lovely age,
And I was blind to beauty the must follow
When the ears are more attuned to listening
The touch more sensitive
And the eyes have learnt at last to see detail
And not go hurrying past to newness always.
And this age is much more satisfying,
Now the heart has lately found that
Love's not taking, but giving greatly.

Western District Foodshare has asked the public for more breakfast spreads. If you are at your local supermarket, you can donate items through their small red bins located near the checkouts.
Volunteers needed for the Science and Engineering Challenge!
Registration to volunteer for the Science and Engineering Challenge is now open, and we need as many volunteers as we can get! This year we have expanded the program to try out a primary day. Currently we have a full program on the Monday 11th Aug and a 90% full program on the Tuesday 12th Aug (this means up to 250 students per day!). Anyone can be a volunteer as long as they have a working with children check.
Being a volunteer for this program is much easier than it sounds. You will be in a team of 2-4 people and run 1 activity. All information and training about that 1 activity will be provided before the date, and there is even a training day. It's really not too hard, I promise! Plus, you get free lunch, tea and coffee. It's lots of fun! Over 130 Rotary groups from across the country participate.
Walking Group on again! 9am meeting at the Pavilion. Social coffee at the cafe post walk.
You can always post in the whatsapp chat to see if anyone is going that morning, or to get a lift!
