At Tuesday's meeting 31 Rotarians attended = 63.3%. Also attending was Honorary member John Reid, visiting Rotarian Michael Boyd, guest of Rotary Fabio Gomes, exchange student, and representatives of the Highlands Foundation Jo Pruis and Jayne Haberfield.
In the absence of Sergeant Andrea Sampson, Rachel Furnell again filled the role and introduced President John Hunt.
President John Hunt welcomed Rotarians and guests Jo Pruis, Jayne Haberfield and visiting Rotarian Michael Boyd. He added that it was good to see John Reid back with us and his daughter Robyn. President John also mentioned that Alan Bowes would fill in for him next week.
International Service Director Svet Lineham thanked all who helped and attended the movie night held at the Capitol Theatre on the 3rd September to raise funds for the Highlands Foundation. The Foundation provides funds for health care in Papua New Guinea. With the help of other local supporters $800 was raised. Svet said our Club's focus is on providing kits for mothers and babies. Before Jo and Jane accepted a cheque on behalf of the Highlands Foundation, they showed some of the items that have been prepared for mothers and babies.
Camp Quality
PP John Nisbet spoke about the plan to replace the old Camp Quality cabin at Surfside Holiday Park. Copies of plans and quotes were placed on tables. The estimated cost to replace the old cabin is $75,000. John asked for suggetions for making a more accessible, safer and comfortable cabin for children and people with disabilities.
Suggestions from the listeners were: width of doorways to allow wheelchair access, sliding doors and some single beds (maybe bunk beds) and needs to be easy to clean.
The following progress payments will be required to purchase a cabin. This is based on a 12 week build timeframe.

How to raise the money? Rotary will be the main contributor but will also need to approach community and charitable groups.
The current Camp Quality cabin is booked out until Easter next year, so nothing can be done until then. If you are interested in seeing what is on the site at the moment, check with Surfside Manager Alex Reardon and he will be pleased to show you around.
Show Gates Roster
Doug Maclean asked Rotarians to let him know if they will be available to help at the Warrnambool Show. He has emailed a copy of last year's roster to members. If you are on that list, but cannot help this year, he would like to hear from you so that the roster can be rearranged and filled. He would also like to hear from anyone who can help.
Please come to hear Lorraine talk of her work with Rotary Interplast. Her work with these voluntary surgical teams, specialising in plastic and reconstructive surgery, has taken her to developing countries to address congenital abnormalities and acquired injuries.

Doug acknowledged the roles of: Judy Ross, who is Chair, Fundraising Rotary Western District and Beyond Subcommittee; Richard Hawker, Chair DIK Subcommittee; Mal Price, Chair Building and Planning Committee; and Tony Austin, Deputy Chair Building and Planning Committee.
The Rotary House Warrnambool Project is being managed by Rotary House Warrnambool Inc. Objectives are:
Establish a purpose built emergency accommodation facility catering for up to 12 families or carers.
Provide accommodation to families of patients attending any Warrnambool hospital, that is easy to access and well managed.
Create an environment that is safe, consumer friendly and supportive.
Charges low accommodation fees based on cost recovery determined and administered by South West Healthcare.
Who will use Rotary House Warrnambool? All families and carers who have a family member requiring hospitalisation and medical treatment at either:

Any other healthcare facility situated in Warrnambool
Rotary House Warrnambool will have 12 individual units, communal areas including reflective garden and parking available for 12 vehicles. Comprehensive building plans were shown to those at the meeting. The current projected cost of the building is $1.6 million, broken up as follows:
All Rotary Clubs in District 9780 are dedicated to providing opportunities for young people to develop their leadership skills to their full potential. To achieve this goal, the Rotarians in District 9780 offer the RYLA program (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). RYLA is a residential seminar held over 6 days. Run by a dedicated and professional team of RYLA leaders who have a passion for working with young people and seeing them develop to their fullest potential. The RYLA program is exciting, innovative and inspiring. It is specifically tailored for young adults and encourages participation, fun and a high level of interactive learning. RYLA is open to any young person between the ages of 18-25 who has the desire to grow personally and contribute to the seminar.

Ian Cairns decided that a Football Trivia Quiz was the way to collect a few dollars this week. Answers could be challenged and there were many wrong answers (correct answers were also challenged). Right or wrong someone had to pay.
