Anne's Message

It was great to see our new library and to enjoy the lovely food provided by Tasty Plate and organised superbly, as usual, by Svetlana. I hope our Friends of Rotary Joan Austin and Philip Ross enjoyed the evening with us. We had apologies from Janet Blackley and Rachel Furnell.

We were given a very informative tour of the library and it was lovely seeing quite a few members joining up.

This coming Tuesday is our monthly board meeting.
Our Guest speaker next week is Alan Bowes speaking on the history of JPs. It will be a good
meeting to bring along someone who may be interested in becoming a JP.

Member Announcements
Brooke
I am after a volunteer or two to help me research schools in our region to target for the science and engineering challenge. All I need is a list of schools, their address', emails and contact person (etc). I am just lacking the time to do so currently.

Anne Adams
Anne has been contacted by Marg Wagner from 'Enhance Work Placement Experience for Everyone' in regards to billeting under 18s throughout the year to help complete their tafe courses here in Warrnambool. These students live remotely and need to complete intensive elements here at our south west tafe campus. This program has a MOU with our district and is being asked of all clubs within our area. If you are interested, please talk to Anne. Brooke can also forward on the flyer and information.

HI-VIS VESTS:
We are missing several vests and I ask if you could please check and see if you may have one lurking in a dark corner somewhere, (at home, in the car, at work, in the shed???). If you do find one, could you please check and see if it is clean and bring it back so we have a full complement of vests once more. Many thanks.

LIDS FOR KIDS:
Please continue to bring along your washed milk bottle tops. Svet and her Girl guides are working with Lauren,  who came and spoke to us. You can give the lids to Svet or Judy. Bread tags are also still being collected.

SMALL CHANGE JAR:
Many thanks to you all for your continued support of our fund-raising to END POLIO NOW. Your generosity meant the jar got very heavy and increasingly hard to carry.  The money was emptied out and has been stored safely!!  It will be combined with any further donations prior to the usual "guessing" competition at the end of the year.

The Folkie is in town!
Thank you to the amazing volunteers who gave their time over the weekend at the Port Fairy Folk Festival. Our club has a great history in participating in the festival, it's also great to get the Rotary name out there. I'm sure you all had a good boogie!

On this day in history,

In 1781,
English astronomer William Herschel observed this day in 1781 the seventh planet from the Sun, Uranus—first described by him as “a curious either nebulous star or perhaps a comet” and named for the father of the god Saturn.
