President Kelly wasn’t available to chair our meeting so the club had to put up with me again.

It was great to see world traveller Svet back with us.
We had guests including Phillip Ross, Sarah Wallace (a potential future member) and Barb Donaldson.

A big thank you to the volunteers who helped move the books from under the Warrnambool Club to the Fairy Street venue.
Thanks also go to Pontings for their assistance with a forklift and operator, Warrnambool Gyprock for the loan of a truck, Norm McCullagh for donating access to one of his properties for the sale and the use of his forklift and George & Trevor for making their utes available.
We started at 10:00, although Anne and Tony started much earlier, moved 11 pallets of books and were finished at 11:50.
Notice of the quilt expo, which we are a partner of, to be held on January 10, 11 & 12 with setup on Thursday the 9th and pack up on the 13th as soon as the expo finishes. Volunteers will be needed.
Notice was given that we needed to pick up several steel frames and their bases for the quilt expo from Warrnambool Primary School on Friday 20th morning 8:00am.
Thanks to those that helped, the Bunnings BBQ was a great success. It appears we took around $1800 and anticipate around $400 in expenses.
The Christmas celebrations:
Thanks to the remarkable organisation of Rachel and Brooke we had a great evening.
Rachel and George managed the Kris Kringle.
Brooke managed several rounds of Christmas Bingo. Winners were Rachel, Margaret and Barb.
Christmas Raffle winners included: Glen, Angela, Svet, Keith and Debbie.
Remarkably David won 3 times.
The evening finished on a very positive note at around 7:50.
Thank you to all who helped make this year another great year for our club.
I wish you and yours all a very Merry Christmas and hopefully I’ll see you Tuesday 7 January.

Ann will happily take your plastic bottle tops. Please make sure they are washed and dried before you give them to her. They are sent to the lids for kids program in Mt Gambier.

RYLA 2025
will take place in the April 2025 school holidays. We are seeking participants to attend aged between 18-25 at the time of the camp. Applications will open around October. If you have anyone in mind, please contact Rachel.

Youth Exchange
Rotary internationally promotes youth exchange across the globe. Our district has 3 incoming 16 year old students for the 2025 year. Maria from Brazil will be living here in Warrnambool, and as such we are looking for homestays for Maria. This basically means taking on board Maria in your house for a minimum of 6 weeks. She will be attending school and volunteering at Rotary events while here in Warrnambool. If you are not able to take her on board, there are options that if you are doing something fun or 'cool', you are welcome to take Maria along as she is here is experience everything Australian culture. Peter has offered to bring her to the Australian Open for example.

The Rotary Club of Warrnambool East Hole in One fundraiser runs from Boxing Day to Australia day at Viaduct Rd Warrnambool - one person will win a car on shootout day.
We have junior competitions as well for the under 12's. Come along and try your luck.

Christmas
I would like to
put up a tree in my
heart, and instead of
hanging presents, I would
like to put the names of all my
friends. Close friends and not so close
friends. The old friends, the new friends.
Those that I see every day and the ones I rarely
see. Those that I always remember and the ones
that I sometimes forget. The ones that are always there and
the ones that seldom are. The friends of difficult times, and the
ones of happy times. Friends, who, without meaning to, I have hurt,
or without meaning have hurt me. Those that I know well and those I only
know by name. Those that owe me a little and those that I owe so much. My
humble friends and important friends. The names of all those that have passed
through my life, no matter how fleetingly. A tree with very deep roots and very long
and strong branches, so that their
names may never be plucked
from my heart. So that new
names from all over may join
the existing ones. A tree with
a very pleasant shade, so that our friendship may take a
moment of rest from the battles of life. May the happy
moments of Christmas brighten every day of your new year. Don’t take anything for granted!!
