Tuesday night Danpinderjit Singh gave us an insight to Sikhism. It was very fascinating and learnt a lot about Dapinderjit and his faith. Thank you Dapinderjit for doing an outstanding presentation and all the hard work you put in and what you do. I know l walked away wanting to learn more.
Last Saturday was the annual volunteer expo and we all had a great day. Thank you, Anne, Tony, Peter, Rachel, Greg, Andrew and Ann Body for helping out on the day. We had some interest who might like to join our club and hope to see them come along to one of our meetings. Tracey, Tiana and Isabella came along and enjoyed the night and are coming back next week and are looking forward to learning more about RYLA. Anne and Rachel were able to get some quest speakers as well.
Member announcements – Anne is wanting a committee for the garden expo and if you like to be involved, please contact Anne. Anne also spoke on behalf of Graeme Ward and is having a tree planting day on Saturday 17 th August from 10am -12pm at the Bromfield site on the Merri River which is the bottom end of Bromfield Steet. Hope you can all give a helping hand.

Save the Date - Science and Engineering Challenge
We are now less than 1 month away from the challenge! Please save the date in your calendars. This year we are looking to need 32 volunteers to help run such a full day. Volunteers don't need to be a Rotarian, but need to have a working with childrens check. The Challenge date is set for Tuesday 13th August with setup on Monday 12th from roughly 2pm. CPR Course
CPR course is on offer for anyone needing to refresh their certificate or get their certificate for the first time. 9am til lunch time, $90. Location will be at the Warrnambool Club. Please see or email Brooke so that she can register you.

RYLA 2025
will take place in the April 2025 school holidays. We are seeking participants to attend aged between 18-25 at the time of the camp. Applications will open around October. If you have anyone in mind, please contact Rachel.
Camp Quality Cabin
There is a lot of maintenance that needs to happen at the cabin in the next 12 months. If you would like to assist on this hands on project and join a small camp quality committee, please contact Rachel.

First, thank you for your support and assistance in getting the RYDA program to Warrnambool. Your willingness and eagerness to bring RYDA into your community and your passion for helping young people gain access to best-practice road safety education is to be commended. Please thank the members of the Rotary Clubs of Warrnambool who attended and helped the students navigate the day. It makes such a difference.
A special thank you to your club for financially contributing towards the cost of delivering the program and ensuring there were no financial barriers for any students attending.
We ended up with 260 students from Warrnambool, Kings, Mortlake, Terang and Emmanuel Colleges attending the program and 44 people attended the parent session on the Monday night, which is an excellent result for the first workshops in a new location.
I received a phone call from one of the parents after the Warrnambool College workshop who asked her son how the workshop went, and he told her it was “F***’n Amazing”. She also asked for the details of the parent session that night and came with her son, which was great. I cant ask for more honest feedback then that.
Additional feedback from students, when asked what their key take-aways were, included:
“All of it, I never knew what impact all our driving styles had on others on the road and to other people on the road.”
“Being able to speak up as it might change the path of someone’s life drastically. Having the example of what would happen if nothing was said compared to what would happen if something was said created a good perspective.”
“Be aware of all road users, especially pedestrians when in high populated areas, also learned about ABS breaking systems and other primary safety features in cars.”
The preliminary teacher's feedback was also excellent with:
100% rated the workshop as very worthwhile
Facilitator effectiveness was rated 4.89 out of 5
83% of teachers indicated an increased awareness of road safety issues
100% said that RYDA should be compulsory for senior high school students

Bromfield Street Weir Tree Planting
Date: Saturday 17th of August. Time: 10 am to 12 midday. Location: the site of the now removed Bromfield Street weir on the Merri River. (northern, or bottom end of Bromfield Street)

The CMA will have a volunteer sign in sheet.
The CMA will provide the necessary tools, however some additional digging tools, e.g. shovels and picks might be handy.
Participants to dress for the weather, wear strong footwear, bring gloves and water.

INTERVIEW WITH GOD
I dreamt I had an interview with God. “So would you like to interview me?” God asked.
“If you have the time,” I said.
God smiled. “My time is eternity. What questions do you have in mind for me?”
“What surprises you most about mankind?”
God answered: “That they get bored with childhood. They rush to grow up and then long to be children again.
“That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.
“That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future.
“That they live as if they will never die, and die as if they had never lived.”
Gods hand took mine and we were silent for a while.
And then I asked: “As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?”
God replied with a smile: “To learn that you cannot make everyone love them. What they can do is let themselves be loved.
“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.
“To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least.
“To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and it takes many years to heal them.
“To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.
“To learn that there are persons who love them dearly, but simply do not know how to express or show their feelings.
“To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.
“To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others. But that they must forgive themselves.
“And to learn that I am here always.”
