Welcome the New Year,
Let the bells ring!
Lift up your voices;
Everyone sing!
The New Year's beginning;
Start it off right.
Bid it good fortune
And welcome tonight.
The Old Year is passing,
But there's none to mourn.
We are rejoicing;
The New Year is born!

Snow white, Superman and Pinocchio are out for a stroll in town one day.
As they walk, they come across a sign:
"Beauty contest for the most beautiful woman in the world."
"I'm entering" says Snow White.
After half an hour she comes out and they ask her,
"Well, how did you do?"
"First place," says Snow White
They continue walking and they see a sign:
"Contest for the strongest man in the world."
"I'm entering," says Superman.
After half an hour, he returns and they ask him,
"How did you go?"
"First place," answers Superman. "Did you ever doubt?"
They continue walking when they see a sign:
"Contest! who is the greatest liar in the world?"
Pinocchio says "This is mine!"
Half an hour later, he returns with tears in his eyes.
'What happened?" They ask.
"Who the hell is Donald Trump?" Ask Pinocchio?
Member Trevor Williams with partner Leanne. Photo was taken along a cruise along the Dalmatian Coastline. Trevor started 2023 off with a massive road trip around most of Australia, and finished the year with visiting various international countries. I think it's safe to say Trevor racked up the most frequent flyer Km's out of all of us!
Member Leon spent 5 weeks venturing between Victoria and Queensland, specifically highlighting many, many games of golf! Pictured is Leon at the Coffs Harbour Golf Course in NSW.
Judy and Phillip Ross may not have gone as far as some of our other Rotarians, but they still had a great year of travel! Pictured is a surprise trip to Brisbane from their children. Judy also met a 'new' cousin, Cathie, in Brisbane which was found trough DNA testing. The pair also travelled to Bendigo for Christmas to spend time with their wonderful family, including member Robbie.
Members Brooke and George spent 5 weeks venturing around Japan. Pictured is them in front of Osaka Castle which construction started in 1583.
These Rootin' Tootin' gun-slingers (Rachel and partner Tim), visited the beautiful sunshine of the Gold Coast.
From Glenn and Marion:
Our Trip to Japan
In October and November 2023 we finally got to do our trip to Japan. This was booked pre-Covid, so it was a long time coming.
The main purpose of the trip was to complete two rather gruelling, though exciting walks. Both walks occupied about 10 days each. The first walks was along the Nakasendo Way. It was about 100kms, and involved walking in the fabulous Japanese forests, and visiting and staying in the old postal towns. These towns were basically established for the Japanese travellers between the old capital of Nara to the new capital of Edo, now Tokyo.
The second walk was the Kumano Kodo pilgrims walk, where again we walked through quite spectacular countryside. The track was basically the original pilgrims walk across the SE peninsula of Honshu. The trip meant that we were able to the three most important shrines in Japan. This walk was quite tough and required much stamina.
Highlights of our time on the walks were the people, the countryside, the food, and the cleanliness. Oh, also we were able to listen to the Melbourne Cup whilst climbing one of the steeper sections on the Nakasendo.
