Anne's Message

As always, we enjoyed our cup day meeting at the Wangoom Hall.
Thank you to Svet, Kelly and Ann for all the prep work they put in and the running of the night in support of mental health awareness.
Using the Wangoom Hall and supporting the local committee's fund raising is another way our Rotary Club supports the local community.
Thank you to everyone involved with the show gates project. We earned $2000 on the weekend and we are pleased to hear the show was a success. Lyn Lyles the show secretary certainly appreciates our support.

Thank you to Svet and Kelly

On Tuesday Svet and Kelly highlighted the importance of Wellbeing.
Although 'Wellbeing' is still somewhat of a new term making an impact within the past decade, it is an important concept for every person of every age group.

On Tuesday, members were asked to spend time in colouring and designing a crown, to ultimately be crowned champion. Why though?

Coloring is a healthy way to relieve stress. It calms the brain and helps your body relax. This can improve sleep and fatigue while decreasing body aches, heart rate, respiration, and feelings of depression and anxiety.

Although coloring isn't the ultimate cure for stress and anxiety, sitting down for a long coloring session holds great value. As you color, pay attention to your breathing rhythm, ensuring steady, full breaths from your diaphragm, and tune into your heart rate periodically if you can.

Other activities have a similar impact like, sewing, gardening, painting, reading, or any activity that reduces your thought process and focuses your body towards full breathes. Anything that reduces thought processes can help you to reflect upon your experiences from the day and build upon them. Reflecting is an important experience to build upon and can help your wellness by framing it into a positive experience.

Here is a great article about why gardening makes you happy:

On this day in History...

On this day in 1860, Americans elected as their president Abraham Lincoln, whose victory led to the secession of Southern states and the long and bloody Civil War that lasted until 1865 and ended slavery in the U.S.
