At our meeting on the 15th July, Ken introduced our guest speaker Lynn Wilson from the Court Network. Lynn started her working life as a Primary School teacher at Jamieson Primary School. She took leave to raise 4 children and in 2009 joined the Court Network. The Court Network is a free, confidential, community service provided by volunteers for all Court users. They offer support for victims, witnesses, accused, family and friends to cope with what can be an intimidating experience. They do not provide legal advice but can refer to legal support and services. Networkers undergo a 12 week training course and a typical day at Court starts at 9am. On average they assist 27 Court users per day and from 5 minutes and up to 5 hours per user. Users with a disability, such as blindness, may require the extra time. The Warrnambool Court now has its own office where it can provide refreshments and privacy for users. There is now a1800 number for users to book an appointment with Court Network. The service can do with more volunteers; if you are interested contact Ken. Our Ken Sharpe is a Networker amongst his many volunteering roles on most days of the week assisting with Anglicare and St.Vinnies to name a few. Thank you Lynn and Ken

Brooke asked members to make themselves available for the Science and Engineering Challenge on the 11th & 12th August. The event needs 32 volunteers per day so please as family and friends. All volunteers must have a current working with Children card.
Graeme confirmed the tree planting at the site of the former Bromfield Street wier is going ahead on the 9th August. This is a combined Rotary Club event. Please let Graeme know if you are able to attend as a BBQ is planned at the conclusion of the planting for everyone.
Please remember to bring along items to our meeting for the Community Cupboard project that we are supporting.

THE CENTURIAN CLUB
Rotarians; since I joined Rotary and 8 years ago, I have some to recognize the importance our Centurian Club in assisting in the most worthwhile projects funded by Rotary International.
This means giving at least $100 each year to the Rotary Foundation will ensure that 100% of the money is passed onto the many Rotary Foundation projects around our world.
Over the coming year I will endeavor to provide reliable information from the RI Foundation Web page with a view to encourage our club and club members to look at maintaining and/or improving our yearly contributions to the Foundation.

Western District Foodshare has asked the public for more breakfast spreads. If you are at your local supermarket, you can donate items through their small red bins located near the checkouts.
Volunteers needed for the Science and Engineering Challenge!
Registration to volunteer for the Science and Engineering Challenge is now open, and we need as many volunteers as we can get! This year we have expanded the program to try out a primary day. Currently we have a full program on the Monday 11th Aug and a 90% full program on the Tuesday 12th Aug (this means up to 250 students per day!). Anyone can be a volunteer as long as they have a working with children check.
Being a volunteer for this program is much easier than it sounds. You will be in a team of 2-4 people and run 1 activity. All information and training about that 1 activity will be provided before the date, and there is even a training day. It's really not too hard, I promise! Plus, you get free lunch, tea and coffee. It's lots of fun! Over 130 Rotary groups from across the country participate.
Walking Group on again! 9am meeting at the Pavilion. Social coffee at the cafe post walk.
You can always post in the whatsapp chat to see if anyone is going that morning, or to get a lift!
