Anne's Message 

We were pleased to welcome Leanne Atkinson as the guest speaker. She told us about the work at the Salvo's Op shop. It is a remarkable business doing a lot more than selling things, although it does that very successfully.

Milk Bottle Caps
Letting all members know we are collecting milk bottle tops (Please wash them thoroughly) and bread bag tags. Bring them along too Rotary and Judy can take them. 
The 5c Jar
is now known as The Loose Change Jar.  We will continue collecting money for the END POLIO NOW project. We are THIS CLOSE.

Ann will be collecting items for food bank at the meeting next week. Ann will also take cash donations to get more items.
Food Bank is in need of the following items:

The Lighthouse Theatre
We had a wonderful meeting on the 22nd venturing through the Lighthouse Theatre. The theatre was opened in 1891 as the Warrnambool Town Hall. Since then, has undergone various refurbishments, changes and updates to what you see today.

The work the the team at the theatre undergo is seen by the wide variety of shows they are about to book yearly. 2022 has been the highest booked year yet! 
 
2023 hopes to go bigger. If you are interested in a preview of the shows for next year, the theatre is running a season launch on the 8th December. Tickets are only $5 and will feature a performance of 'toe-tapping history of Boogie-Woogie & Rock and Roll Piano songs'.

Thank you to everyone who helped Jaynaya Miller get to the Australian Training Awards in Adelaide recently. 
 
Jaynaya recently completed year 12 at Warrnambool College and completed her school based traineeship. She worked with the Warrnambool Police Station for 2 years during the traineeship. Coming out of school, she hopes to gain real work experience before enrolling in the police academy herself.
 
Jaynaya received the Victorian winner of the school based apprentice or trainee award, she went onto being a finalist for the national title. Although she did not win, she has since been given the 2022 AEN Training award finalist: inspiration award, Indigenous Student of the Year.
 
Jaynaya's family struggled through October and November when a water pipe burst flooding their house. Jaynaya's mum and the 4 kids spent nearly 2 months in a motel together while the house was repaired by Wannon Water. They are finally back in their house and extremely grateful to the Rotary Club of Warrnambool. Sam, Jaynaya's mum, has offered her time volunteering at some of our next events as a thank you.
