President Mal made following comments:
- Thanked all who attended and assisted in the running of the Melbourne Cup meeting last week
- Thanked all who assisted in the Bunnings BBQ last Saturday. The weather was with us, (terrible,) enabling the club to raise over $1,000
Meals served with main being faux Salmon Patties.
Members notices:
- Anne Adams: Tim Roache will be speaking next week, and members should strive to invite as many guests along as they can. Topic is associated with the dairy industry et al. Also there is the call to nominate a person/organisation for a Churchill Fellowship. It has been a while since our club has done so.
- Brian Trenery: Remember the 90th celebrations next Sat week. Beginning at 6:30pm for 7:00pm. Ushers are required to assist in seating of guests. Someone is needed to pick up Elizabeth Nolan, (see Brian if able to do so.) All Paul Harris recipients should bring their lapel badges with them please. Also if there are any photo albums of past events around please pass onto the committee.
- Judy Ross: The 5c jar may seem a little light on but not so. The jar weighs 7kg’s at moment. (with 155 5c’s to a kg, members should be able to make a calculation.) However more coins will be appreciated.
- Glenn Brotchie: Apologised for not having a debrief session after last Dinner Auction but is hopeful to have a meeting soon of interested people to get the 2020 auction up and running.
Fines: Again some suspicious fines from our esteemed finesmaster, with most members coping a hit.
Chairman for night, Duncan Stalker introduced the guest speakers. They are speaking on topics related to November 11, Remembrance Day. Shirley Harlock introduced the members and guests to diaries related to her grandfather who served in WW1 and WW2. David McGuiness, from the local RSL, and an avid reader and researcher on our serving members followed up with some interesting research and anecdotes on information gleaned from the diaries. An interesting evening.
Duncan Stalker summed up by mentioning the photo display at the RSL at present, “Don’t forget the Pommies”. Duncan thanked the guests for their interesting and informative talk.
President Mal Price also thanked Shirley and David, and presented them with the obligatory mosquito net certificates. He also thanked Aiisha for attending. Don’t forget to invite guests for next week.
Oops nearly forgot the Robbie Swindle. Lucky mal was drawn out, and guess what, he drew the Ace, winning $40. I think I heard him say it will be on bar next week.
