Anne's Message

Our guest speaker Anton Hockey from Road Safety Education Ltd gave us an interesting and challenging talk on the RYDA program, a pre driver course for year 11 students This program was originally developed by a Rotary Club in South Australia. The course will run in Warrnambool this year and seems like an opportunity for Warrnambool Rotary Clubs to make an important contribution to the life of young people in our district. Thank you, Chris Stebbing, for being chairman.

We were pleased to welcome Margaret Ross's guests, her son Andrew and grandchildren Elisha and Elio, and thank you to Elio for his very good question. I was sorry I didn't have some of my grandchildren there to hear the talk.We had apologies from Judy Ross, Svetlana Lineham, Cathy Bligh, David Brown, and Brian Trenery. Trevor Williams is on leave of absence until September.

Thank you to everyone who helped with the book sale, made contributions to the raffle, and rounded up their friends and family to give us a hand with the set up. It was clearly our best book sale ever with a profit of $7016. We will have a clearing sale probably on the long weekend in June. A special thank you to Peter Headen at 3YB FM, Lillian Altman at The Standard and Julie and Gavan Dwyer from the Warrnambool Club. We all enjoyed our evening with Jock Serong and the insights he gave into the life of an author.

Anne has been contacted by Marg Wagner from 'Enhance Work Placement Experience for Everyone' in regards to billeting under 18s throughout the year to help complete their tafe courses here in Warrnambool. These students live remotely and need to complete intensive elements here at our south west tafe campus. This program has a MOU with our district and is being asked of all clubs within our area. If you are interested, please talk to Anne. Brooke can also forward on the flyer and information.

Thank you for the raffle items
Many thanks to all the members who generously donated to the raffle at the weekend's Book Sale.

There were some very excited winners, including some of our own members  - Brooke and George who won a prize each; Sharon Kenny who won 2 prizes; Tony Austin; George's mum Mary won two prizes; and Keith's daughter Lyn Wood won one. In fact the McLeod clan fared very well, especially as Keith drew the raffle for me!!! BUT IT WAS ALL ABOVE BOARD!!

LIDS FOR KIDS:
Please continue to bring along your washed milk bottle tops. Svet and her Girl guides are working with Lauren,  who came and spoke to us. You can give the lids to Svet or Judy. Bread tags are also still being collected.

SMALL CHANGE JAR:
please feel free to empty your pockets and purses of any small change which will go towards Rotary's endeavour to END POLIO NOW. Thankyou for your continued support and generosity.
