We had an apology from Dr Cameron who has had to postpone his Member Presentation this week because he could not read his notes. Rest assured his wife will have them typed up ready to go for a future meeting.
Generations in Jazz is being organised again for 2026. Neville is creating a schedule so please let him know if you can take a shift. They are expecting 5000 people this year, so we will try and beat last year's 125 pans. GIJ runs from 1-3 May 2026.
Mary presented an overview of the current sinkhole proposal she submitted to the Board for consideration. It would involve creating a peace park as part of the Arbour or Garden Walk aspects of the City Council Master Plan as discussed at meeting 2872.
Amalei Jordan has commenced her high sea adventure, and we look forward to a joint presentation to Lakes and Westies in the coming weeks.

Lakes Rotary have reached out as they would like to submit a bid for the City Council 150-year celebration grants. They would like to do a photographic presentation celebrating Rotary service to the community. It was suggested we could see if the grant could be used later in the year for Party in the Park. Frank will be our club contact.
And for the haters out there, my holiday is not just beer, there is also temples, monkeys, cocktails, and water festivals. I have dropped a few teasers below.

World Immunisation Week
World Immunisation Week is 24-30 April 2026 so I thought we would highlight the amazing work Rotary does to End Polio Now.
Jonas Edward Salk was an American virologist and medical researcher who developed one of the first successful polio vaccines.
On April 12, 1955, Dr. Thomas Francis, Jr. announced to the world that Dr. Jonas Salk’s polio vaccine was safe, effective, and potent. This medical breakthrough cemented Dr. Salk’s legacy and made polio eradication a possibility. His son, Dr. Peter Salk, is the president and director of the Jonas Salk Legacy Foundation, also serving as a professor of infectious diseases and microbiology at the University of Pittsburgh School of Public Health. The Rotary magazine team recorded the linked interview for Immunisation Week 2024 to discuss immunizations and polio eradication.
Join Dr Scott Leavengood, as he talks about Forestry in the Pacific Northwest.
Forestry is an important economic contributor to the U.S. Pacific Northwest, but it has transitioned from utilisation of old grow native forests to dependence on plantation timbers.
This transition has resulted in dramatic changes to processing in the region.
This presentation will overview the resources in the region, how they are processed and finish with research underway to add more value including through the use of mass timber element in building construction.

The Rotary South Pacific Conference 2026 is coming to Melbourne this October, and one of its bold central themes is Planet, a timely and important focus on environmental stewardship and what it means to protect the world we all share.
Keynote speaker Bridget Teirney will bring a humanitarian perspective to environmental stewardship, exploring how protecting natural resources strengthens community resilience, a message that couldn't feel more relevant right now.
Convened by Rotary International Director Jennifer Scott AM and chaired by PDG Tony Monley OAM, the conference brings together Rotary leaders, changemakers and members from across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. All united around a shared vision for a better world.
