 Hi Team,

Another good meeting this week, great to see so many of you there for our presentation from Substance Misuse Limestone Coast, it was quite an interesting presentation with quite a bit of audience participation. There were certainly some disturbing statistics regarding the spread of age groups involved, which I found quite surprising, hopefully when this year’s figures are released there is an improvement.

There are still some spaces available at Hammer Barn Bunnings this weekend if you are free to help.  Please reach out to Neville if you are available so he can finalise the run list.

We have another guest speaker this week Harry Long who is going to speak to us regarding the Scouts which should be most interesting. Look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday.

Uni SA Public Lecture -  David Radford

Our next away meeting is 12 August 2025 at UNISA to hear David Radford's presentation on Attracting and Retaining International Migrants in Rural and Regional Communities: Dream or illusion?

Many rural and regional communities in Australia struggle to sustain their population and economic growth. Attracting and retaining international migrants and refugees is viewed as one critical pathway to address these challenges. The key issues are well documented: limited employment opportunities, available and affordable housing, insufficient migrant support services, access to health services and suitable education, and welcoming communities. Other challenges are equally pressing including maintaining social cohesion, racism and experiences of structural inequalities.

As always it will be an interesting session with lots of opportunity to network within the community.

Next Week

Tomorrow night we have Harry Long in attendance to talk about Australia Scouts and the interesting programs they have running in Mount Gambier.

We also welcome our August Sergeants to centre stage:
Lisa Hogan and Michael Hillstone
Not a tough act to follow, but we look forward to seeing what you do with it.

upcoming projects
