The Lakes Club have been asked to run a BBQ for the City Council Engagement at Umpherston Sinkhole on Wednesday 6 May. Neil, Greg and David will confirm details with Council and run the Lakes BBQ trailer.
Matthew will confirm details to assist with set up for the Country Cabinet public event at Mount Gambier High on 14 May. We will need 3-4 people to assist early afternoon on the day.
Lisa shared a personal reflection on the fellowship and enduring friendships developed with fellow club members. She thanked everyone that comes and makes the club and meetings great.
We had to turn down a spot at Bunnings this weekend due to GiJ commitments.
Bordertown have reached out with details for the Strathdownie Border Club event. Cost per person is $35 for a three-course feast. Mount Gambier as the inaugural winners are hosting the club challenge. A sign up sheet will be provided this week for anyone interested. Guests and partners are welcome.

Earlier this week we received the sad news that Past District Governor, 2009/2010, Chris Sims passed away on Saturday 25 April. 2026
A memorial service will be held in June at the Jan Juc Surf Life Saving Club. Details of the date and time are yet to be announced.
Generations In Jazz!
Thank you to all our Westies who stepped up on Saturday to help out in the Pizza Van at Generations in Jazz. With over 5000 hungry students, and support staff, volunteers, families there was usually a steady flow of patrons.
In total we sold 166 pans, or 664 slices. Brian will have full details on pizza and drinks sold at meeting 2877, but it is fair to say another great year to support our music scholarship program.

On Brian's recent trip to the Land of the Long White Cloud (NZ), he took the time to reflect at their Peace Park. This gives us another example of what a Mount Gambier Peace Park could look like.
Perfect timing to present an updated proposal to City Council at the BBQ on Wednesday night. It would make an excellent addition to the proposed Arbour Walk. But equally could be a peaceful reflection spot within the lakes precinct.
Redistricting Briefing Recording
Everyone should have received an email explaining the redistricting project. There have been a couple of teams meetings hosted by the project group. President Neil attended the first meeting and provided his key takeaways at meeting 2875:
Membership has dropped from 37,000 in 2016 to 26,370.
Redistricting will realign the existing 19 districts into 10.
The proposal will see us joint a new SA/NT district.
This will not stop us from continuing to collaborate with the cross border clubs.
The numbers they have suggest we are the largest Mount Gambier club.
