Hi Team,

Thanks to those that attended meeting 2848 at Macs Hotel last week. Brian asked me to share that Jan had walked 136km and raised $1,668 for pancreatic cancer research.  A huge effort that will contribute to ongoing treatment research. Anyone with a future campaign they would like to notify members of, please send through to me via the handy link above.

We will be running the Pizza Van at the Mil Lel Show on 11 October 2025. If you are available 8:30 am - 2:00 pm and would like to help, please let Neville know.

Matthew advised Party in the Park has been fully funded by City of Mount Gambier. All the arrangements are falling into place, stage booked, sand organised, food venders secured. Thank you to Matthew for his ongoing management of preparations, it is very much appreciated.

The Australian Sprint Car Titles will be held 30-31 January 2026. We have been approached to run the Pizza Van at the event, Greg is getting some more details regarding the event so stay tuned for an update

All in all a very productive meeting highlighting the key events we have coming up over the festive season.

The Goods and Services Auction is being planned for March/April 2026. Any contributions of goods or services for the Auction or for assistance organising the event would be appreciated.

Judith's Oceans to Outback RFDS Fundraiser

Australia is a big country, and for those living in remote, rural and regional areas, access to immediate care isn’t a guarantee. For some communities, the nearest hospital is eight hours drive away.
This October, I’m taking on a month-long fitness challenge to help more people access the care they need. By going further, I hope to raise as much as possible for the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS).

Every year, the RFDS reach more than 330,000 Australians with 24-hour emergency retrieval and primary healthcare services. That’s one person every two minutes!

Together, we can keep the Flying Doctor flying and continue their life-saving work. Please donate to my challenge today!

29 KM and counting!

Bluefield Housing as Alternative Infill for the Suburbs, UNISA

"A grand vision for a future of housing and practical guide for how to achieve it."

Professor Damian Madigan is an architect and urban infill housing researcher who coined the term ‘Bluefield Housing’ to describe the established suburbs.

Professor Madigan will present this new housing model and discuss the often-contentious issue of how to increase housing supply and diversity while retaining the low-rise housing and landscape character that we love in our suburbs. Along the way, he’ll demonstrate that density increases, and the retention of neighbourhood character can co-exist in an increasingly complex housing crisis
People's Choice Vote

Our own wee Mackenzie has entered the Nature in Focus Photo Contest which is decided by People's Choice.

The winners win a $200 nursery voucher prize for both themselves and their School.

It is free to vote, should you wish too and would be greatly appreciated.

Mackenzie is entered as Year 3 - Year 6 with NESTING under the Oceans, Wetlands and Rivers Category

Nominate your Local Hero

Each year, South Australia celebrates the achievements and contributions of outstanding members of their communities through the Citizen of the Year Awards. These individuals demonstrate extraordinary service every day within our communities so often invisible to most of us. This contribution builds the social and cultural fabric of our society, making a significant difference to the people of our state. The Citizen of the Year Awards program is proudly conducted by the Australia Day Council of South Australia in partnership with each of the 69 Councils across our state.

The Awards acknowledge the unsung heroes of our community who through their contributions make our state a better place. These individuals and organisations offer outstanding service each day and enable our communities to be stronger as a result of their tireless efforts.

The 2026 summit brings together three districts to amplify the collective power and drive meaningful change. We'll be focusing on the incredible things we can achieve when we work together, sharing our successes, and planning our future impact.

What to expect:

  • Inspiring Speakers: Hear from visionary leaders.

  • Collaborative Workshops: Engage in hands-on sessions.

  • Networking Opportunities: Connect with fellow members from across the districts.

  • Celebration of Service: We'll be showcasing amazing projects and celebrating the impact we've all made.

  • Experience Horsham: Discover the best of the Wimmera region with a Paddock to Plate-themed Gala Dinner and more.
