Meeting 2879 was hosted at Adelaide University for their public lecture on The Planted Forest in the Pacific Northwest. Professor Scott Leavengood, Department of Wood Science and Engineering at Oregon State University presented his thoughts on the forestry industry. It was interesting to see the details on increasing outputs from mills utilising new technology and the subsequent closure of mills no longer required.
Pete Crewe, Regional Director, Mount Gambier opened the public lecture giving an update on the newly opened Forestry Centre. Not only has it had two openings, but students were provided meals and fuel vouchers to encourage participation. Staff are also supporting the Children's University program which has had much success in Adeliade and participating libraries.

About the role
This is a fixed-term, 2-year appointment for an unpaid, volunteer role.
The DEI Director promotes an inclusive environment that fosters a sense of belonging and respect. In turn, this attracts new members who share the same purpose of service above self, and creates a positive, purposeful community impact.
