They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

What a week, starting with a BBQ for the cheerful tradies from O'Briens Electrical, ANZAC Day and meeting 2854 on Tuesday and finishing with the huge success of the Street Parade and Party in the Park.

You will be excited to know the repairs to the Pizza Van have been completed, and we will be all burners firing on Saturday. Thank you to Neville who continued to liaise with Paradise Pizza to get the van back up and running as soon as possible. We all know how important it is to be able to connect with our community at events, and raise funds for local organisations.

Until next time.

That's a WRAP

The sun was shining and the locals were soaking up the atmosphere at this weekends PARTY IN THE PARK and Street Parade.

The community we serve see it as a seamless celebration that runs on magic dust and Christmas spirit. But to us, we know it couldn't happen without the blood, sweat and tears of all our volunteers.

Whether you are a Westie or not,  were up with the sparrows to erect gazebos, escorting Santa, or assisting everywhere and anywhere else in the lead up to, during or packing up, Mount Gambier West Rotary thanks you for your continued support.

Contributing Organisations on the day: Rotary Mount Gambier West, Rotary Lakes, Rotary Mount Gambier, Rapid Response Team, Four Reasons Why, Lions Club, City of Mount Gambier.

Member Talk: Matthew Dixon

The star of the weekend, literally with more stage time then even Santa!

I was remiss in not mentioning Matthew in last weeks bulletin, after he completed his member talk, regaling us all with his history, and some very interesting stories as to how he got into pharmacy, the places his career took him, and the eclectic nature of the people he met along the way.

Thanks Matthew for taking the time to share your story with the club.

Take your seat at the table

Still thinking about the impact y0u could make on the board? Or a burning idea you have bring fun or speakers to the club? Or maybe you have secretly always coveted the board members shiny new badge every year?  Whatever your motivation, this is your year!

We are encouraging all members — especially our long-term Rotarians who have a deep understanding of our club’s values and vision to consider taking on a board position. Your experience, insight, and enthusiasm can help shape the next chapter of Mount Gambier West Rotary.

Serving on the board isn’t just about responsibility, it’s about opportunity:

  • Opportunity to influence the direction of the club and ensure it remains vibrant and community focused.
  • Opportunity to mentor and inspire newer members, passing on the wisdom gained through years of service.
  • Opportunity to bring fresh ideas and energy to our projects and events.

Let’s build on our strong foundation by embracing renewal and sharing leadership across our membership.

Together, we can ensure our club continues to grow and thrive for years to come.

If you’ve ever thought about stepping up, now is the time. Your Rotary journey still has new chapters to write.
